How Old Were You When You Lost Your Virginity?

In a hard-to-believe fit of modesty, sexy funny lady Tina Fey revealed to David Letterman last night that she was 24 before she lost her virginity and "couldn't give it away." (I'm incredulous about the latter claim — not that she was 24.)

I don't think I know anyone who waited that long, but everyone has her reasons for delaying sex. Honestly, I think being ready to have sex is better than "getting it out of the way" as I hear some people describe their motivations for having sex for the first time.

I was with my bf for almost 4 years and I was 21 when I lost mine happily in our new house. We were both virgins thankfully and we are proud of ourselves for waiting that long. My bf have known eachother for almost 7 years now and are still together - engaged to be married. I waited on the right one instead of just anyone. I didn't see the point in doing it early. We were going to wait for marriage, but we want a nice wedding and can't afford it just yet. We couldn't resist eachother after waiting nearly 4 years, so we finally did it. It was unplanned, but we were just happy being together. My little sister lost her's early and had 2 kids before age 20. Her husband and father of the girls cheated on her and now they're separated. My neice's are beautiful, but I didn't want that kind of situation for myself. My fiance' and I are planning on children after the wedding, we have two great dogs that we adopted, and we enjoy spending time together while we still have it. I am so glad we saved ourselves for eachother, so it wouldn't be weird or uncomfortable and there's nothing to be jealous or ashamed about.

I am 17, and have never had sex. I've come close, I've been offered once or twice, once, in an unmentionable and taboo situation, the latter in a school restroom with a boy whom I let finger me and give me my 1st kiss (he doesn't know he was my 1st kiss). I've never had a real boyfriend, though I feel bad about this, I'm not sure I could be honest with anyone if I end up getting one while still here in the area. IDK, sex scares me a little... a lot. I'm on the heavier side, but even though I've been told many times that I have beautiful eyes and a pretty face, I don't have many friends, and I'm not too well liked. Oh well, this has turned into a rant. I'm a virgin, no hope of changing that anytime soon. Looks like I really can't just give it away...

I don't get it...why would US high school girls make fun of you if you haven't lost your virginity? It's shameful of them, and seriously none of their goddamn business when you want to get fucked and by whom. In my local high school in my country, you'd get lots of whispers behind your back (by teachers, girls and boys...everyone) if you lost your virginity at an early age...and getting labeled as second hand goods is defnitely not supposed to be a medal of honour. I firmly believe the awkwardness of first time sex should be enjoyed when you are with your one and only soulmate.

I lost mine at age 23 on my wedding night. I was blessed to get to know my husband mentally and think our marriage is healthier for waiting. I truly hate how sex has turned into a playtoy and lost its wonder and significance by the light treatment of it. Women aren't respected anymore as we ought to be - we're just toys, our fertility is drowned with contraceptives so we can be the playtoys of men. (not to say we don't have fun ourselves, but respect IS lost.) Conservative lifestyles have their place in the world. There is a reason the all this incest, abortion, single parent, divorce, and marital issues are on the rise, and people who indulge in animal instincts with no personal restriction are often the poorer for it.

I'm posting again because what I do think here is that regardless of whether someone first had sex at 12, 30 or still has not had sex in their 40s, it is their choice and we should not judge.or make rude comments about their choice.

I'm 14 right now and i still have my virginity. And i dont plan on losing it any time soon. i am a Christian and waiting for marriage. In the bible it says "Your body is a temple" and that is exactly what my body is. Losing it when you are 15, 16 is a slutty thing to me. you are in freaking high school! and that is something that you will never get back. I don't agree with the whole wait until you are ready idea. If God tells me to wait, i'm going to wait. I don't see what the big deal is anyway.

I was 19. It was 2 months before I turned 20. I'm now 21 and still with the same guy and we're planning on getting married after I graduate from college. I'm really glad I waited and he's the only one I've been with (and will ever be with). But I have friends who didn't wait that long and friends who are still waiting and I think we're all happy in our own situations!! :-)

I was 24 and I lost it to my husband, who was 25 and also a virgin. I know it's not for everyone, but it was the best decision I've ever made. By waiting, I knew enough about birth control to know not to get pregnant right away and by only having one partner, I never had to worry about STDs or him wanting me to try weird freaky crap that some other chick did. Plus, knowing that I was the first person to give my husband all his sexual experience makes me feel like somewhat of a sex goddess, if that makes sense. And to anyone that thinks that monogamous sex=boring sex, that's totally untrue.
