Highlights From Sarah Silverman's New Interview With Vanity Fair
Sarah Silverman Wishes Vaginas Made People Laugh
Sarah Silverman has a theory on why male genitalia makes audiences chuckle comfortably, while the female counterpart makes many of us — including her — cringe. When Vanity Fair asked her to name three funny things about vaginas, she said the word speaks for itself:
"Oh my God. I think just the word, the kind of instant uncomfortable factor. I think penis and vagina should be equal comedically, but they’re not. And it probably has something to do with how penises are external and dry and like an arm or an elbow. And vaginas have a whole situation — they’re like. Oh, I’m grossing myself out now. You know, like, labia majora, labia minora. Pubes."
She sure makes a persuasive argument. The potty-mouthed comedian has a new book out tomorrow, with a bathroom-themed title: The Bedwetter: Stories of Courage, Redemption, and Pee. In addition to her involuntary urination issues and vaginas in general, Sarah discusses her battle with depression and her comedy career. Would you like to read it?
