Harry Potter Book Cover Art

Attention Potterheads: Harry Potter is getting a new look, but don't worry, his signature glasses aren't going anywhere. Scholastic is rereleasing all seven books in J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series with fresh cover art by Kazu Kibuishi in honor of the series' 15th birthday. (Yeah, we feel old.) The paperback editions will hit bookshelves in the States this September.

The publisher released the first cover for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone — aka Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone outside the US — and it features Harry and Hagrid walking down Diagon Alley with Harry's owl Hedwig flying nearby. This will be the fourth cover for the American editions of the book, as there was the original followed by the rare "school market edition," and then the "special anniversary edition" for the 10th birthday of the book. There were supposed to be anniversary covers for all the books, but it fell through after the first was released. In the UK, the first edition of the Philosopher's Stone was illustrated by Thomas Taylor, followed by the "signature edition," and then the "adult" version.
