What's the Best Couples Costume You've Seen?

If you're like me, trying to plan a Halloween costume stresses you out. So you might think coming up with a couple-themed outfit would be double the work — but actually I think it's easier.

First, you only need one idea for two people. So you can outsource the brainstorming to your partner. And there are more clever options. While you might not just dress up as an egg solo, dressing up as bacon and eggs totally makes sense. Unfortunately, that deliciously cute costume wasn't enough to save Kelly Osbourne and ex Luke Worrall's relationship. After he allegedly cheated on her (bacon was everywhere last year), I doubt they'll spend Halloween together this year.

Ignoring a costume's capacity to keep a couple together, I'm curious: what duo costumes have you found especially clever or cute?

Last year my bf and I personified the idiom "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush" We both wore tan tops and green bottoms. He had a fake bird attached to the palm of his hand, and an equal sign taped onto his shirt. While I put some fake branches on my skirt with two birds in the "bush". There were a few that got it right away, but I spent most of the night explaining to people what the idiom was as they had never heard of it... I guess we were a little too witty. This year we are going much more simple and will be the two Guinness Scientists drinking beer and exclaiming "Brilliant!" all night.

One year my boyfriend and I did a morgue worker (he had a coat that said morgue and was a little dirty) I was a sexy grim reaper. It was fun and creative! Grim reaper and dead body could work too! Another year we did car mechanic and Nascar driver (specifically Ricky Bobby). We even took it to our drink of choice that night and drank tall boys of American beer. The Nascar thing can be fun because you can pin different brands on yourself so it is easy and cheap!

This year my boyfriend and I are going as Harley Quinn and The Joker (from the 90's cartoon, not the dark knight). It's especially perfect because we are huge comic book nerds :D

A few years ago the guy I was dating and I went as zombie Britney Spears and K-Fed, we even had baby dolls. That was probably the most fun costume I've ever put together.

well I can't say we are entirely original but my boyfriend and I are taking his little cousin on a cruise for his 18th birthday during Halloween this year so we are going as Princess Peach, Mario, and Luigi =)

Hawiian punch. The woman goes as a hula dancer and the guy goes as a boxer. Or if you really want to get cheesy she could go as little red riding hood, and he could dress up as any variation of the big bad wolf (Teen Wolf, a "Team Jacob" tshirt ala Twilight, Michael Jackson Thriller wolf, etc).

A couple of years ago, I went as Marilyn Monroe and my fiance was JFK. He wore a JFK mask and a navy suit with a red tie. It was pretty funny.

I love Never Been Kissed.. haha. Its on my list of much loved movies from that time. I was a roach and a can of raid with a guy I was dating once. Second time I'd gone as a roach, I was one as a kid. Really weird looking back.. It was fun though, lots of people laughed. Halloween is about enjoying yourself, not working hard to make sure other people find your ideas acceptable or good. Do what you want.

If anyone has seen the drew barrymore film "Never Been Kissed" for the prom their theme is Meant for Each Other / "couples throughout the years". They did things like Rosalind and Orlando, adam and eve, king+queen of hearts, turtle + hare, barbie and ken etc. Or how about aladdin + jasmine, mr and mrs pacman, shrek+princess fiona, fred and wilma flintstone....i think costumes that people 'get' straight away and have a chuckle at work best!

I think the peace and quiet idea is cute, but I would be afraid I'd have to explain it all night. "No I'm not just a hippie and he's not just a mime, we are...oh forget it, I need a drink!" lol

I think I'm going as the tooth fairy this year and my bf as a little kid (in footy pjs, night cap and blacked out front tooth with a teddy bear)...lol Trying to find necklaces of fake teeth to complete my look....lol

A few years ago, a couple I knew dressed as a pregnant nun and a priest with a boner. I thought it was pretty funny. Otherwise, I agree with tlsgirl that most couple costumes I see are pretty obvious. The peace and quiet thing is cute! Not in couple news, a friend of mine always does a really good play on words... one year he was "hell on wheels" and dressed as a devil in roller skates. Another time he was a "deadbeat" and dressed as a beatnik with vampire teeth.

My Aunt and Uncle always come with amazing ideas: one year they were Hans and Franz from SNL. Loved it because it was spot-on and hilarious without being overly cheesy played out!

A friend of mine is dressing up with her boyfriend as "peace and quiet." She's going to be a hippie and he'll be a mime, I thought that was kind of cute.

I'm not sure I've ever really seen one that was especially good. They all seem to have been kind of obvious ideas. I could definitely get behind one if it had some originality though.
