You Won't Believe What Gwyneth Paltrow Does to Her Vagina

Well, this is a new one from Goop girl Gwyneth Paltrow. She announced in a post on her site that she steam cleans her lady parts, and she really thinks you should too. I know, I know, I'm sure you're probably scrambling to find the nearest spot to send herbal hot water up your vagina to get that "energetic release" Paltrow claims comes from it, but make sure you get the facts before delving too deep into this questionable practice. On her site, Gwyneth Paltrow went into detail about what the process — called the Mugwort V-Steam — involves and why she thinks women should be washing out their vaginas in this more unconventional way. Apparently, if you're in LA, you simply have to do it.

"The real golden ticket here [at Tikkun Korean spa in LA] is the Mugworth V-Steam: You sit on what is essentially a mini-throne, and a combination of infrared and mugwort steam cleanses your uterus, et al. It is an energetic release — not just a steam douche — that balances female hormone levels. If you're in LA, you have to do it."

Experts were quick to point out some red flags with the practice, saying that steam — herbal or otherwise — is not the best thing to be shooting up your genitals, adding that the vagina, uterus, and vulva are basically nature's own form of a self-cleaning oven, so we should let them do their thing. Conclusion: if you are feeling adventurous and want to embrace your inner Goop goddess, maybe stick with one of Gwyneth's more risky recipes and leave the steam cleaning to the stars.
