Anyone who's had an international lover or experienced the challenges of a long-distance relationship most likely enjoyed Google's Super Bowl commercial last night. In the spot, Google manages to show off its product without calling on the overused emasculated man theme. When it comes to innovation, focusing on romance instead of men suffering through relationships so they can get the car or beer they really want was almost more exciting than the translation tool, flight tracker, or other tricks the commercial shows off. Did the story of a long-distance love hit home for you?

Yes, my current boyfriend sometimes has to travel across country for his job for weeks on end. It's torturous, but it's a good opportunity for him and I am so proud.
1No but I really loved this commercial. It was too cute
2the commercial was adorable, we rewound it to watch again
3Oh I love that commercial! Aww. And yes, in one right now. My boyfriend lives in the UK. I'm in Los Angeles. 3 years and counting.
4Yes and communication was a b*tch at first because most of our communicating took place over IM, email and text. Silly disagreements would rise because one of us would take what the other had written not the way it was intended. Things smoothed out though.
I'm sure once video phones become mainstream LDLTR's will explode like wild fire. Mark my words.
5what an adorable commercial! my boyfriend and i have been in a long distance relationship for over 2 years, so they definitely work (to those who always try to say long distance relationships never work)! i still get giddy around him, too! definitely posting this commercial on my fb, haha!
6Yes, the bf and I have done long distance for probably 1 year or so total, since we both travel a lot and did study abroad in college. It's been about a month since I've seen him, which is really hard now because we've lived together for the past 3 years and I'm used to seeing him everyday. But he comes home on Wednesday, so I'm super excited!!
7I loved this commercial.
8i loved this commercial, it brought a tear to my eye. my bf and i were in a long distance relationship for 5 years(we've been together for 5 and a half) and we now finally live together! they work if u want them to
9Yep. I was in several, and now my partner travels a lot for work, so we're semi-long distance. It's hard, but we make it work, and he's always home at least 2 days a week.
10yes. it didnt work out.
11HA! I was watching the Super Bowl with family yesterday and we all saw the commercial. The part when they search "long distance relationship advice", I said, "I've searched that before." My family laughed and what's more awkward is my boyfriend was in the room...good thing no one made any comments! It's true, I've searched that in Google before. I was in a long distance relationship, on and off for seven years. This past December, he decided to move back up to the Bay Area and we're giving it another shot. It is very hard work and you have to be a certain type of person to make it work. You do learn a lot about yourself and it is quite a test for you and your partner.
12Yeah I'm in a long distance relationship right now. My boyfriend works for Cirque du Soleil, so he travels a lot (and not to mention the time difference). It's hard not being able to be with the person you love, but there's so much to look forward to next time seeing him!
Long distance relationships don't fail because of the distance. They fail because one party.. or both, decides that the other person isn't worth it anymore. But of course, it's only realistic to have a long distance relationship if you both plan to be together physically in the foreseeable future, like seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
Even though my boyfriend and I are apart physically, I never feel alone, because I know he's thinking of me and genuinely cares about me. Time to time he'll send a text message to let me know that I'm on his mind and I often write him snail mails for little surprises.
Trust, patience, understanding and having interest in each others' lives are some of the important elements to make a relationship work, especially a long distance one.
13Yes, I am in one right now! My boyfriend lives in CA and I am finishing my degree in Oregon, but I am planning to move back down this summer! It definitely takes extra effort, and alot of airplane trips, but he is SOOO worth it! P.S. I loved this commercial!
14Yes. It was hard and then I found out that my ex was cheating on me. Oy vey.
15My husband and I were in a long-distance relationship for over a year before I finally moved to Europe(from California) to be with him. It took a lot of trust and open communication to make it work, as we would go three months or more without seeing each other. I couldn't imagine spending many, many years apart...yeesh!
16this commercial is too cute
17and yes i'm currently in a long distance relationship
