Would You Get Married Abroad?

California Gurl Katy Perry and Brit Russell Brand tied the knot this weekend in India. The couple embraced some of the country's wedding traditions, holding an Indian wedding procession, arriving on elephant, and sporting traditional dress.

If you get married abroad, you can incorporate the country's customs into your celebration. It also makes for a memorable backdrop. I had a friend who married in Paris last year, and she took photos on her wedding day at many of the city's charming monuments. Or maybe you'd like to skip town and have a relaxing beach wedding in Mexico.

Would you consider getting married in another country?

My mother was in the military, and I spent a lot of my young childhood life in Germany. So I would love to go back to Europe and get married there.

i got married in india... it was a little sad that my friends couldnt make it, but it was a wonderful ceremony, and for a fraction of the cost of a wedding here, i was able to have a super extravagant affair there

Hmm the boyfriend and I often wonder where we're getting married. We're bi-continental afterall. I'd say New York is the halfway point between LA and England :P, which is foreign enough for me. Haha.But if I had millions of dollars to fly everyone out then heck yeah. I would love to get married in Italy or Japan. But, realistically... I wouldn't mind having a wedding close to home, wherever home is. Weddings are beautiful regardless.

I'd consider eloping in Spain (we LOVE Spain!). It probably won't happen, so realistically, perhaps just an extremely small ceremony (our parents) on a beach in Hawaii, where I grew up, and then a larger party back in SoCal when we get back.

We got married in FL and it was hard enough to get family from NY to fly down for the wedding!I think if it were a second wedding and going to be very small with just a couple witnesses then I would think more seriously about it.

My husband and I got married in Malibu so all of our friends and family could be there. We still only had under 100 people there but we had the best time. I'd do it the same way in a heartbeat, but I think renewing your vows in Cabo or someplace where there is surf, sand and beer would be awesome!

I'd say yes if I was rich enough to fly my loved ones out for it, but I'm not, so I voted no. I want to share my wedding with my family and close friends.

Weddings can be such a hassle these days. Trying to make everyone happy, when it's supposed to be our day just seems wrong, so I'd rather spend some of the money on a great trip with a small group of close friends and important family members.

I don't hate the idea, but I personally wouldn't do it because it's not very "us". But I'd attend and enjoy a wedding abroad. I've been to a wedding down south at a resort and also loved it.

Are either of them of Indian descent? It's one thing to get married abroad, but another to adopt native dress and tradition just because you like the outfits and want to ride an elephant. To me, it cheapens the tradition by making the ceremony a production number for a couple of rich white folks.If I was a native, I would be irritated by that. Having said that, I find them both minimally talented and annoying as hell.

We talked about it before getting married but decided against it. Oh sure, it's a romantic idea, but you're really asking a lot of your guests in that respect. Too much in my opinion.

Yes, I definitely would. I would love to have a small, intimate wedding in Dubrovnik and then have a big party/reception a month or so later. That way I could have both a small wedding and a big wedding, since both appeal to me for different reasons!

No. It would be too much stress getting there for me, I hate to fly. I would be anxious the whole trip because I would know I would have to fly home soon. I prefer to stay in this country :)

No. It's hard enough to get everyone together in the same STATE. Unfortunately, I'm not a baller and wouldn't be able to fly everyone out to some other country.
