Get Ready to Go Rogue With Sarah Palin

Attention lucky readers! Sarah Palin has finished her book Going Rogue: An American Life, just four months after she announced the book deal. The memoir will be released on Nov. 17 instead of in the Spring as originally planned.

While we don't know too much about the 400-page book, the publisher says: "Governor Palin has been unbelievably conscientious and hands-on at every stage." (Isn't that a given if you're writing a book?) When the book was announced, Palin said she was excited to have an "unfiltered forum" to set the record straight about her life and views.

The publisher believes that the book will be popular — it ordered 1.5 million copies for the first printing, the same number ordered for late Sen. Ted Kennedy's posthumous memoir.

Sarah Palin is definitely a fascinating figure, and based on what we hear from the likes of Levi Johnston, her "American life" can be pretty entertaining. Would you buy her book?

Definitely should be sold in the comedy section. I may read it at the library if I need a good laugh or to feel mentally superior.

Nope, urban legend. From the transcript of the interview with Charles Gibson: GIBSON: What insight into Russian actions, particularly in the last couple of weeks, does the proximity of the state give you? PALIN: They’re our next door neighbors and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska. GIBSON: What insight does that give you into what they’re doing in Georgia? PALIN: Well, I’m giving you that perspective of how small our world is and how important it is that we work with our allies to keep good relation with all of these countries, especially Russia. We will not repeat a Cold War. We must have good relationship with our allies, pressuring, also, helping us to remind Russia that it’s in their benefit, also, a mutually beneficial relationship for us all to be getting along. She's right, by the way - you can see the easternmost land point of Russia from the westernmost point of Alaska. I don't happen to think that gives her foreign policy credentials, but the "I can see Russia from my house!" is all Tina Fey.

Uh, that's totally not true mermei. When asked what qualifications she had in foreign affairs she said she Russia was nearby, so nearby you could see it from her house.

Right, you guys do realize that whole "I can see Russia from my house" comment was Tina Fey on Saturday Night Live, not actually Sarah Palin, right? I'm sure I'll read it eventually. It'd be interesting to get her take on how women who claim to be feminists have completely vilified her with incredibly demeaning, anti-woman remarks for having the audacity to have her own opinions on the world.

My guess is we'll be able to purchase this in the "Hunting" section of any bookstore. She is an idiot with nothing valid to say in regard to the politics she is so active and "experienced" in. So, no. I think I'll pass.

Also, I'm not sure why anyone would see Palin as "the leader" of the Republican Party. A lot of Republicans don't even like her; the likelihood that she would have actually been chosen as the Vice Presidential candidate, if voters had been given a choice, is slim to none.

The commenters on here who are always so quick to proclaim the death/failure of the Republican Party must not have been following politics very long, considering that the death of the Democratic Party was proclaimed just 5 years ago. I guess there will always be people who gloat when they are on top; I just find it so unbecoming.

I might borrow it from a conservative friend, just to see what kind of moronic nonsense she's pushing, but I'll be damned if I send any of my disposable income in her direction. Another option would be to read a copy in a bookstore, making sure to guffaw loudly at especially stupid parts. BTW, to those who think Sarah is so mentally superior, I can see the moon at night from my backyard, but it doesn't make me an astronaut.
