Fleshlight 9/11 Tweet
Is It OK For a Sex-Toy Company to Tweet About 9/11?
It's the 13th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, and the world has taken to social media to commemorate the events of that day. Many brands have joined Twitter users in remembering the occasion, including Fleshlight, a sex-toy company (Google it at your own NSFW risk).
Today is 13th anniversary of 9/11. We remember those lost, & honor those still fighting for freedom. #911NeverForget pic.twitter.com/W0yFU73L7V

They tweeted this simple and seemingly harmless message, and a Twitter freakout immediately ensued. Countless users made it clear that the sentiments from a company like Fleshlight were not appreciated. Some were baffled at the idea of brands feeling the need to comment at all, while others were directly offended that the source was a sex-toy company, implying (or straight-up saying), that it was tasteless coming from them.
Seriously. So far, I think @Fleshlight wins with most awkward brand attachment to a national tragedy. https://t.co/BUe6yy3e7V
