First Date Backup Plans

From asking the right questions to ensuring the night doesn't dry out, we know just about all the first-date dos and don'ts. But sometimes the best-laid dates go all wrong.

My friend asked me to show up at a bar where she was chugging through a first date this weekend. With reluctant daters scheduling mid-date texts and phone calls, she's hardly the first person to map her exit out. In fact, the tactic is so popular it's a wonder anyone gets away with it! But the point isn't to be believed but to escape semi-gracefully, so I suppose it works.
