Feel Good to Be Bad? You Need Obama on Your Shoulder!

Though will.i.am's video just picked up an Emmy, I venture there's something to be said for a little folk-music (and whistling!) in your political parody.

Mary Katharine Ham, recently of Townhall, made this deftly edited, quirkily catchy video about the choices you might make if you had your own, private Obama on your shoulder, devil/angel style.

With the little tiny voice saying "Obama!" and the fact that too many good songs can't fit in the word xenophobe, I can't decide if the concept of Obama following your every move is hilarious, creepy, or hilariously creepy. And the altar to Obama — too much needling, or just right?

My favorite joke is in the credits. . . see if you can spot it.

My favorite inspirational song is Stand. I sang it at a 9/11 memorial. It probably wouldn't work as a campaign song because it's religious...but I used it to show how strong America was at the time and that we were all standing together. It's a beautiful song. It's by Susan Ashton. I didn't think this was super funny, but it wasn't offensive or anything. The best Obama impersonator I have seen was on a clip that I saw on another show...I dont know who he was or what show he was affiliated with, but there is a guy out there with mad Obama-funny skills.

Ah, I vaguely remember that now. It's weird what things stick with you and which don't. I was just confused because the Kennedys were/are known for 'ers' and 'uhs' sprinkled throughout everything and I thought you were making him sound like a valley girl.

This was F'n hilarious, when the little Angle pops up and says OBAMA! I laughed so loud the people in the next office came out to see what was going on. Now, on a serious note yes this video can be taken pro or con Sen. Obama which is the beauty of it, perfect fodder for debate. Sen. Obama has received some criticism from the right that he is pulling a Jimmy Carter by asking people to be more responsible and suggesting that this is the time to make certain sacrifices in our lives. I'd kinda like to know why it was popular for Sen. Kennedy to ask "ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country" and so unpopular for two people in difficult economic times to ask the country to work as a team by conserving energy, producing less waste, and be a responsible citizen. This is certainly not an unreasonable request. In my opinion if someone has a problem with Sen. Obama on that point it sounds to me more like they have a problem with their own conscience and they need to sort those issues out.
