Do You Swear?

Swearing when you stub your toe might take the pain away according to a new study, but it could also make you come off as less than classy. Some people find cursing to be vulgar and "unbecoming to a lady."

I'll admit that sometimes I'll utter a "bad word," depending on who I'm with and the message I'm trying to get across (like humor or disappointment). And I do have some friends who lace even the most perfunctory sentences with profanity — but since it's part of who they are, I barely even notice!

I swear all the time when I'm around people who I know don't mind/care. Like, I just got back from Mayhem Festival (a metal music fest featuring big-name bands like Bullet For My Valentine, Kill Switch Engage, Slayer, and Marilyn Manson this year)... and I sore all the f*cking time there. However, around my parents, I don't swear other than the occasional word to get a point across. And I swear a lot in rants to vent (like when my boyfriend and I were leaving the concert, and had to turn left to get to our hotel, but instead were confronted with the WEIRDEST detours and police blocks that had us driving in circles for an hour and a half).

It's not that I find it tasteless, I just don't swear. I have other ways to express myself.

I swear all the time. I never used to swear a lot until I got my current job. But I never swear in front of children, when in polite company or serving customers at work. I don't want my bad language rubbing off on kids, or insulting people who don't want to hear it. However when with family, friends or alone, I let rip and have put marines to shame.

Where is the "sometimes, but I don't like it" button? Thank goodness I'm usually by myself but the other day I was on my cell phone w/ a friend & a guy on a motorcycle cut right in front of me. I called him a bad name. My friend was shocked. LOL So was I, sort of.... :oops:

Almost never. But there was a girl on my swim team whose mom came in a swore at the coach and made her cry. It was right before a meet was about to start and it set us back a few minutes. Her daughter was ineligible and she took it out on the coach. Talk about distasteful.

I was the last of my friends in high school to stop swearing, but as an adult I've made up for it by swearing way too much. It's a hard habit to break, especially since certain words are just so... descriptive. I definitely want to cut back on the f-word... the rest don't bother me too much.

I rarely swear. When I do, I'm usually frustrated or mad, and the swearing is directed at myself or at the situation.

I have a bit of a potty mouth, but I mostly keep it to myself. I keep my language clean when I'm around family and co-workers.Even though I have no problem dropping f-bombs when I feel the occasion calls for it, I don't like hearing it as much.
