Do Tell: What's the Last Lie You Told?

I've yet to see Ricky Gervais's new movie The Invention of Lying, but I can't escape the commercials! Every time I see an ad about the movie's imaginary universe where lying is impossible, I wonder: could I go without lying?

I then search my mind for all the big lies or small fibs I might have told in the past. I'm happy to reveal that I'm not guilty of any Don-Draper-sized lies, but I have told a few white ones to avoid embarrassment or hurting someone's feelings.

I tell little lies all the time! The last lie I told was just 5 minutes ago when I told my husband I was swamped at work and couldn't pick up our daughter. I knew he could and I would rather head straight home. No harm in my lies but I crack up when I see these previews and I can't wait to see it.

I lie about my DUI... I say my car is broken so that I don't lose my job and so that my crazy ex- doesn't hear about it and bring it up in court in an attempt to get my baby taken away from me.

I'm not really much of a liar. I have no problem telling people exactly what's on my mind. I guess the only times that I do lie is when it's to protect someone's feelings or to make someone feel better.

I actually have the opposite problem I tell it like it is or I'm blunt. My best friend tells me "I hate you I hate you I hate you, but you're the only one that would tell me that so thank you". I do tell little so called white lies now and then though the most famous one of all being "hey how are you" "oh I'm fine", who really wants to sit down and hear my problems besides best friends, family and partner.

I lied to someone in my Sociology class yesterday. He asked me if I wanted to go on a date with him and I lied and said I already had a boyfriend. The reason I didn't want to go on a date with him is because he is known as the hit it a quit it guy, who then brags to everyone about it.
