Do Tell: What was your Worst Wedding Day Disaster?

I was told by a wedding planner once that the day of your wedding, it's perfectly normal, and you should even expect to have at least three minor hiccups. Since the bride is usually already on edge after yielding off any wedding planning disasters, ladies do tell, did you have any wedding day disasters?

Here are a few of my wedding day hiccups. I had a series of small cakes at my wedding. My mother went to pick them up and half of them literally fell apart on her. Luckily my mom is awesome and got the store to give us twice as many cakes to make up for the fact that the place did not have any more red velvet ready to go. My hair got messed up but my bride's maid fixed it. Traffic from a collage football game got me to my wedding late. My mother-in-law wore a white dress. (I decided to ignore it for the sake of having a good time.) Our ride left us, but someone else came back to pick us up and bring us home. All in all, my best advice for anyone getting married is to just relax and have fun, because things will go wrong. If you don't think that will be easy I suggest NOT having a dry wedding... Just saying.

Been married for 1 year and a half now, and still have depressive after thoughts of my big day. My maid of honour was of no help to me. Had to do EVERYTHING ON MY OWN BASICALLY... But this will be a long story if i had to give it word for word, and detailed... So here goes as short as possilbe some parts my come before the other excuse me on that. It was a small wedding close friends family, had it all planned out just for persons to help implement it... but at the time when I need the help from those whom I thought would be there it never came. My decorations and guest pins and cake boxes and goodies all got stuck in New York. I didnt have a bridal shower, I had to decorate the venue and the church by myself with a few friends and part of the bridal party, which was most DEPRESSING. We had to stay up all night to put cake in boxes, wrap up souvenirs and do pins for the guest all that night before the wedding, went to bed at 6 am for a 11 am wedding... The maid of HORROR as i call her,we went to house to pick her up to sleep over at my house and she was up set at me can't remember why for now, and never came with us, so she wasn't there to help with any of these eventfully and most memeorable moments nor was there in the morning to help me get dressed. My brides maids had to do it all. The hair dresser came to give me the worst hair style ever, she could not even do eyebrows so had to shape them my self. Putting on my make up the masscara broke and spilled all over my dress, making me 2 hours late for the ceremony and loosing my deposit. You could imagine th watre works. After providing tranportation for the bridal party, the MAID OF HORROR calls my husband to come pick her up at her house because she said she isn't goint to walk through the city to come to the church! havimg my husband almost late him self. And she is waiting at the church for me where as i need her at the house... Putting on the dress I lost to much weight and the seamstress did not do a go job on taking in on the sides. So i was fixing and pulling up my falling dress all day long... half of my pictures had my bra exposed. :'(...... LOL I laughed at this part so hard, My Dad thought the wedding was the Sunday and had to rush from his house 1 hour away from the church noting that he had to get dress when he got to the city, thank God he came up by boat and his girlfriend lives close enough, so took him 45 mins. I cried that whole morning... Getting to the church the MAID OF HORROR'S dress lost 3-4" on it so you could imagine how short it was, and giving the job she had to do picking up my veil etc everybody was seeing her underware. My aunt had to come help and she was rather angry at my aunt as well for do so, thought that my aunt was out of place!!!! SMH But i cried the most when i got to the reception and seeing that the venue saw my stresses and depressed face and felt my pain fpr the night before and redecorated the place for me adding more stuff and exactly what i wanted as well, i cried from my car so much when i saw this. And she had the most unthinkable comments maid in her speech, with no shame... smh.... The "picture take outer" as I will call them charged us $2000 for crappy footage with no sound of my live violins and guitar telling me that the camera couldn't pick up the sound but yet still picked my tiny voice saying my vows and crappy pics with no prints... Our wedding cake was GIFT lol again, the topper was a rum fruit cake and the bottom plain, the plain made mould after3 days... The Best part of my wedding was my mommy sending me my wonderful champange gown, with ivory catherdal trail and fingerless gloves which the massacra and the seamstress stressed out, my daddy making it to the church on time, the lovely food prepared by the nuns and their thoughtful and most wonderful redecorating, my beautiful bridal party which I designed myself from their flowers to dresses suits suites to shoes, and handsome matching husband in his Ivory/ khaki heather linen three piece suit. I am counting down the years, months, weeks, day, hours, mins to the time when we will renew our vows and I will have the wedding that I dreamed of with all the treamings and alll the minused stress factors... I wish I could get this as a gift, prize, what ever form shape or fashion, A WEDDING DO OVER

wedding coordinator warning. When contacting the white lion hotel in wisbech PE13 11JD in February 2012 for our wedding reception they reffered us to their appointed wedding coordinator, we told her our ideas and waited for a break down list and costs for our reception. A simple list with a total cost arrived, we checked the few details and found inacuracies and mistakes, and some items we wanted were absent . We contacted the hotel who confirmed the coordinator hadnt reserved our day pending deposit and the hotel was already booked. Good job we hadnt paid the non refundable deposit to the coordinator ! Aprently the hotel hadnt even priced the venue up for her to even give us a price let alone ask for a deposit. The coordinator has suddenly dissapeared and we have currently have no hotel reception after 3 months of negotiations and its all thanks to "dream day wedding planning.co.uk" via "cassie smart" at "cassiesweddingplanning-09@mail.com". 22 linisfarne road eye peterborough pe67 7xh. The conclusion is that we are now at the mercy of the white lion hotel who new we were looking at those dates and were already in negotiations before the new people booked our dates away, or we need to find a new reception venue at the last minute,or place a plea for help in the fenland citizen newspaper. If all fails and the wedding is cancelled through no fault of our own will we lose our deposits or everything else we have booked and paid for in full already.
My Groom and I both had the Stomach 24 hour FLU. I missed half my pictures and my entire reception dry heaving in the bathroom. I had to leave the reception and share the bathroom sick with my groom at our hotel room. Not the wedding i had been planning for 12 months.

I got halfway down the aisle and realized my groom was not there. My coordinator sent 8 bridesmaids and groomsmen, my ring bearer, and my flower girl down the aisle (after the ushers rolled out the aisle runner) and still didn't think I forgot to let the groom know the wedding has started. My usher asked her AFTER I started walking where he was. How a church full of people let that happen I don't know. Worst coordinator on EARTH!
When I got propose to I immediately started my wedding planning. I had everything planned out to the hair, dress, bridal party and everything. I had very little help with my bridal party and family because I lived out of town. I did not delegate anyone to help me because I thought they would offer. His family offer to help with almost everything, until the last minute some couldn't. Bad enough I went picking my dress by myself. Around 6 months before the wedding we hire a director/florist for the wedding. He made a sample that was out of this world and I fell for it. Thats when we paid him 1,750. Deposit, directing and special flowers order. Around 3 months to the wedding he has nothing ready. He told me he had other wedding to do first.I am going crazy now. He had his friend to call me and said if I can push my wedding back, and hire another director 2 months prior. He still has nothing ready after we paid him all that money within a month. So 2 weeks before the wedding he still does not have anything ready. I had a judge call him to demand that he have everything ready for the wedding by this date. Still he insist on lying about other wedding he is doing. Come the week of the wedding he only does about 200 dollars worth of things such as bouquet for bride and bridal party, boutineers, two alter arrangment. Nothing for the reception hall. After the rehersal he suppose to direct the church, no call no show the day before the wedding. He is not the director no more. Did not have a director, photographer or a florist on my wedding day. At the bachlorette party I was so depress that my wedding day would be a complete disater. Which he showed up the day of the wedding with some stuff and nothing for the reception. My grandmother had to pay someone an 3 hours to do something with the hall with only 100 dollars. Pretty simple huh compare to almost 2000 worth of elegant things that i wanted. Then the reception hall was soooo hot it made my cake melt and people left. What a horrible wedding experience. I love my husband and I am going to marry him again, just to be satisfied and noth depress thinking on how we had to go through all of this pain. As much as I love being in love I would never wish this on no one.
This wasn't a disaster but it was funny. My ex-husband worked at a group home for developmentally delayed adults. We had a very small wedding and so we invited the people at the group home to come to the ceremony. My ex was a pretty good-looking guy and the young women who lived in the group home all had crushes on him and were pretty choked he was getting married. In the ceremony the minister asked the congregation to say "I do" if they agreed to support us in our married life together. After the "I do's" were heard, from the back a very loud "well I don't" echoed across the chapel from one of his "crushes". Fortunately I have a good sense of humour and we all just laughed.
I went to a friends wedding the other day and it was meant to be an outside wedding but it was raining so they moved us inside - no biggy. Then the page boy (the brides 6yr old son) tripped on the red carpet as he entered the reception and lost his show and it took 3 attempts to put it back on.. it was so cute the bride just walked down the aisle laughing - something you don't see everyday.
My future-in-laws came to my parents' house before we left for the wedding, so we could take pictures. My fiance's brother spilled an entire glass of red wine down the side of my dress. I hadn't even left my parents' house yet, and my dress was ruined. I laughed it off to avoid making him feel worse, but I was really upset.
My Matron Of Honour told me she wasn't going to be staying until the end of the reception and left with her husband and children and left my mother in law to stay until the end. Though she had agreed to do it on the day of the rehearsal. I realize now that I made many mistakes for my wedding and the funny thing is I could have eloped and saved myself a ton of aggravation.
My brother brought some woman who was not invited and that no one knew about. My father insulted my husband at the church and tried to start an arguement with me at the end of the evening. Needless to say inviting him was a mistake and as it turns out he was only bent on causing trouble. My mom gave me away at my wedding for that I am so relieved.
Many years ago my ex worked for a wedding photography company, one of his collegues attended a society wedding which was going very well until the groom gave his speech. He thanked everyone then gave special thanks to his mother in law for not telling him that his new wife had been sleeping with the best man! He walked out leaving the in laws with a massive bill and went on the honeymoon with the best man. True story. Wish I'd been there.
then i should be in for a great wedding? my wifes phone went off during the reception and since she was dancing i looked at it. turns out she'd been having an affair for like the past two months... awesome

I got married 5 days ago to the man I love & have been with for 10 years, I would have loved the cake to fall on the floor, or something like that. Unfortunately, no one will remember the romantic ceremony, the delicious dinner, the flawless first dance, the perfect music & DJ, and my funny Emcee. Mine will be remembered as the wedding where my best man's kid got tin a fist-fight with my husband's nephews while everyone watched! It was like junior high! I broke up the fight in the rain in my gown, and tried to get everyone to come back in or to leave, but it escalated, my 70 year old mother in law got pushed and everyone left before wedding cake and the late buffet that was made by a professional chef (I have lots of leftovers guys if you want to come over!) The worst part is, my best man's kid kept worrying if he got married at the same hall, one of the people working there would ruin his day! (he gets married in April) My matron of honour was in tears and went I went to the washroom to get her a kleenex, 6 women were talking about how they couldn't wait to leave, that it was the worst wedding they had ever seen! So, I went and bought all friends that actually stayed (like 10 people) shots at the bar, sent my DJ home early, and sang Que Sera Sera in my gown. The worst thing is, we are the "party house" that everyone comes over for parties and holidays....what should I do? I am debating to cancel everything until I don't feel horrible anymore or should I just suck it up and pretend it wasn't that bad? We just bought a house and put all our money left on the wedding so no honeymoon....now I know why people elope. To end with a wise quote from Sarah Jessica Parker playing Carrie Bradshaw in Sex in the City "The worse the wedding, the better the marriage" There is one thing that would have been worse....not marrying the man I love.

At my aunt's wedding, they decided to release doves as the new bride and groom triumphantly run down the church steps, and one of the doves flew askew and into the groom's uncle's face, and BROKE HIS NOSE, and the bird was killed. True story.

During my sister's wedding there were a few glitches but nothing major. When my dad went to hand my sister off to her soon to be husband, he was stepping away and stepped on the train of her dress. She took a step and almost got yanked backward. Everyone chuckled fortunately and the wedding went on. Then at the reception the DJ played the wrong song for their first dance. It was supposed to be an Al Green song, well, it was an Al Green song but not the right one. My sister was a little irritated but she laughed it off..what else could they do? Everything else went off without a hitch and it was a beautiful ceremony :)

Everything on my weding day went smoothly until right before the ceremony. My maid of honor forgot to bring the rings from the church's parlor (where we got dressed) to the sanctuary, and for some reason no one was allowed to get back into the parlor during the wedding (stupid church policy), so we had to get married with my sister's fake cubic zirconia ring that didn't fit and only went about halfway up my finger, and my brother-in-law's wedding ring that was way too big for his finger! It all turned out alright anyway though! I also stumbled by stepping on my dress walking back down the aisle after the ceremony, but my husband caught me.

My wedding day went really smooth. Except to get to the altar my husband and I had to walk up about 4 steps and I almost feel. Thankfully no one noticed but my hubby and I joke about it now =)

My BF got married in June on a relatively nice day (maybe 80deg tops), but the church had no air conditioning, which she of course didn't realize until the rehearsal dinner. It wasn't too bad for the guests, but there were huge windows that had all this bright sunlight shining on those of the us standing up. Midway through the ceremony, her brother who was standing across from me ran out of the church for about 5 minutes. Turns out he was so hot he thought he was going to pass out and ran outside to throw up. Thankfully the bride and groom didn't even see him run out or come back in.

I was getting dressed in the hotel when there was a fire alarm! I had to run down 6 flights of stairs in my wedding dress. I have some great pictures with fireman though, and me in my wedding dress! Right after that, the car service that was supposed to pick me up to take me to my wedding ceremony didn't show up. I was on the phone with the car service guy, and he kept insisting he did pick me up. I said "It wasn't me, it was someone else. You know how you will know it's me? I'm wearing a BIG WHITE DRESS. A WEDDING DRESS. Do you know WHY? I have to GET TO MY WEDDING!!!!!" The hotel bellboy heard me freaking out and he got me another car service. :)
