Do Tell: What is off Limits?

Fighting is inevitable in relationships, which is why it is so important to fight fairly. When you're with someone for a long time, he or she knows just how to push your buttons and add more fuel to the fire -- annoying but true. When I fight with people I love, there are always certain things that send me into a tailspin, like when my boyfriend would say "whatever" or "forget it" -- grrr! So ladies, do tell, what are the sayings or words that are considered "off limits" when you're fighting with your best friend, boyfriend, or family member?

One more thing. I agree with Cycy!!!!!!!!! When guys say or think that a girl is just upset because its that time of the month. Its like they think we can't be upset other than that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Girls do think and have lives when its not that time of the month!!!!!!!!! That one makes me very angry.

I think any mention of my family during an argument is off-limits except IF the argument is about them. Otherwise, it's just a cheap shot and falls under the category of kitchen-sink fighting. Stick to the subject.

Shouting is off-limits, absolutely off limits. And I really hate it when men especially think that just because there's a disageement of opinions the female is PMSing or it's "that time of the month". That makes me ten times angrier than i was to begin with. Also when someone says "I don't care what you think" in the middle of an argument/discussion. That's when everything actually breaks down.

My hubby has away of trying to wrestle with me when we argue, he will hold me down an tickle me till "I stop being crazy" and it just pisses me off. I constantly tell him if you leave me alone Ill calm down, and replies with Ill leave you alone if you calm down. It makes me so angry bc its like he isnt taking it serious the way I am.

Wow, popgoestheworld, I just have to say ditto. My bf will make the catfight noise at me and that just makes me really mad. Also if anyone, but especially my bf, tells me to calm down or just to not make a big deal out of something, that really annoys me. My bf used to tell me "whoa" or "easy now" when I got mad about something and that would just make me soooooooo mad! I was like, am I a horse/dog now that you have to calm down!? I finally got him to stop doing that though, lol.

Attack the actions, not the character. My boyfriend and I really haven't had a major fight between us in 17 months. The worst it has gotten is when I had to deal with his friends that were trying to persuade him to play the field. And after I put in perspective, he told them if he would have met me a day after his ex left him, he wouldn't have felt any different than if it would have been five years. You don't let go of someone you are in sinc with. And when times get trying, we pray together. He also says it is better to deal with people pushing the boundaries with us than letting me. He witnessed the Italian come out once! And he knows when this happens, I'm usually pushed to my limits.I don't really fight with my friends either. The only times I have issues is if they are doing something wrong or are getting involved with substance abuse and it affects them. But I don't typically fight, I just avoid them. But I always believe in dealing with logic and fairness. And I hate bullies!No drama!

i'm guilty of balling up issues into a kind of "that's because you don't love me" argument. i know it's stupid and false and i'm working on it, really. i've done it so often that it's become an off limits thing for my boyfriend now.

Saying "whatever" or complete silence. It's nothing worse than getting all worked up about something that makes you mad and the other is just sitting there ignoring you or with a smirk like they don't care.

If my boyfriend and I are fighting, if ONE cussword comes out of my mouth, the argument is over with, (and not in a good way). He thinks that cussing is a lack of communication skills and I agree. He won't speak to me until I apologize and learn to speak like an adult...lol.

if when I say "I don't want to talk about this anymore, I need to calm down", they keep pestering me about it. It's like poking a cornered lion, that just said "hey you do that again I'm ripping your throat out".
