Happy Father's Day everyone!!!

Since this day is dedicated to honoring your father, or father figure, ladies, do tell, what is your favorite memory with your dad?

Fathers teach you confidence. My favorite memory is about that. I was helping my father with construction on a new house. I was only nine. I was so proud he asked me to help him with the job. I was using a saw and cutting tiles. I would bring them back and he would be fitting them in one at a time. But with one tile I made a mistake. The cut wasn't quite right. He didn't say anything. He just said, it's OK. I'll use it and you can keep on going. I could never forget that day. I felt he believed in me and gave me a chance to do something important. He looked over the one mistake I made and thanked me at the end of the day. As all things in life, that's what you should count on for your dad's to do.

He could tell the BEST Ghost stories...and I loved going for walks in the woods with my family and dogs in tow.

There's so many of them but this one in particular stands out. It was when i learned how to ride my bike for the first time without the training wheels(Iwas 5 yrs old ).He was laughing and clapping and going on about how proud he was of me.He was the best Dad in the world and there's not a single day that goes by that i don't think about him at least once a day and when i do it always puts a smile on my face and it reminds me of just how lucky we were to have him in our lives and just how much we were loved...

My Dad is a man of few words.. fewer emotional "Love you" type words.. though I always knew that he loved me more than anything and would do anything for me. So my favorite moments with him are just being together doing something almost in silence and just enjoying each others company.. favorite fav would be on a houseboat trip with all the family:aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents.. too many people on one boat equalling controlled chaos.. Everyone was cooking and eating up front. Dad was fishing off the back, I was sitting next to him (my feet in the water), the sun was setting, the water was like glass, he was casting across a cove to the shadows.. Just the two of us sharing a moment..no words needed. He cast and the line snapped and the weights, bait etc went sailing a million miles off into the sunset.. he hesitated a moment began to reel the broken line back and said softly "That never happened" and re-thread the line and began fishing again. Me with a permagrin kept quiet.

I have a lot of good memories of my dad taking us hiking and camping when me and my siblings were kids. Also, he used to read to us before bed when we were small. Those 2 things gave me my love of nature and of reading.

I wish I had one (and no my dad is not dead and we still live in the samen house)... =[ We never got along... actually it's really a shame but also not my fault.

I wish I could express to my Dad exactly how much I love and appreciate him... I love you Dad. I love him for always making the effort to make conversation with me and say "hello" when he comes home from work... such a small thing, but I never noticed how much it means to me until lately.

My favorite memory with my dad is when i was about 6 years old and he bought me my first two wheeler bike. It was pink with hot pink tassles hanging from the bar handles. So when he brought it home, my dad and went to an empty parking lot and he taught me how to ride. I cried the entire time but i was determined to ride the two wheeler. After i fell off a few too many times, we went out for ice cream. After i felt a little better we went driving down a dirt road, me in his lap. I am sure it wasn't very safe, but i was convinced that i was driving.He always cheered me up.

The best experiences I've had with my dad are the talks during long car rides with the two of us in the car, and the songs we'd listen to. Also if I ever needed advice on guy issues, he would tell me what a guy's mentality is at my age and give stories about himself back in the day with dating. Since I grew up without any brothers or any other male figures to look up to, my dad kind of filled that gap. I really loved those car rides we have had together.

Anytime Dad was grilling at the BBQ and yelling at us in the pool to "stop all that rough-housing"!

Meeting him for the first time (I was ten, crazy Ma wouldn't allow visitation rights). My biological Dad was the best guy with a great sense of humor. I loved learning what he did, who he was. Now, he's jut a red 'neck in the inner city of St. Louis. People get a kick out of him. My step Dad, I'v known longer than my bio Dad, is a solid guy also. My fav memory with him was when I fell down, he picked me up and fixed me. No tears, he was that good.

Ahhh, I have so many wonderful memories of/with my father. I love the image of him dancing to 'Gloria' at a wedding with some young girl; standing in his Santa head boxer shorts on Christmas morning; wearing an apron over his suit and cleaning up the kitchen after church on Sunday. But my favorite memories are of just being with him day to day. He was soft spoken, had a hint of mischief in his eyes, a wonderful sense of humor, and a kindness that emanated in every move he made. I miss him deeply and think of him today and most days with love and a smile on my face.
