Do Tell: What's Your Definition of Perfect on Paper?

I'm sure you've all heard the saying "he's perfect on paper" — you know, the guy who went to an Ivy League school, the guy who comes from a good family, who's caring, generous, and of course good looking. While that description might sound good to some, it's far from perfection to others. So ladies, once you've decided he's boyfriend material, do tell, what's your definition of a guy that's perfect on paper?

Okay if we gonna go with having a fantasy here I would say Matt Damon too. Well if Matt isn't available Jake would be lovely as a replacement.

i dont believe in perfect on paper. i believe in a person being perfect for another person.

My perfect on paper guy was a D1 runner at an Ivy League school with a job helping the less fortunate, but kind of a tech-geek on the side, and he had amazing taste in clothes, decor etc. He was friendly to everyone, loved puppies, and worshipped me. But I never really liked him. Isn't that weird. My boyfriend now isn't what I always wanted, but he seems to be what I've always needed. Funny how that works out.

My SO and I certainly weren't what the other would want on paper- we didn't even think we were what the other would want when we met! Alas, the heart has a mind of its own and I'm glad I didn't interfere based on what I thought he should be.

I'm with Spiderlove, my fiance isn't "good on paper," but he's good for me. My ex was pretty close to perfect on paper - he was smart, outgoing, came from a loving family, had a religious faith, was working towards a bachelor's, played guitar with ambitions towards starting a music career, etc. But he didn't treat me well, and after we broke up he went into a downward spiral (dropped out of school, drugs and alcohol). I'm so glad I got out when I did. My fiance, when I met him, wasn't anywhere near perfect. Messy, scatterbrained, always late, skipped class a lot, an atheist, drank a lot, so on and so forth. But we had a connection I couldn't overlook. Sure enough, after a few months of dating he began to change his life for the better. Now he's the man he was always meant to be. He may not be perfect, but he's perfect for me.

Tall, Dark, Handsome. Nicely shaped arms, excellent sense of humour, smart but not a know-it-all, kind of goofy but not irritating, very easy going but knows when to put his foot down. Someone who gets along with everyone, someone who can have a good time in any situation even if it isnt his type of "thing", someone who can take a joke and give them back and someone who knows what the right place and time is for everything. Someone who knows when to say yes, when to say no and when to just let me have my way. Someone who knows how to appreciate me and will remind me when I'm not appreciating him. Basically, everything my current boyfriend and future husband is now.

When my ex and I broke up I called my best friend and we talked for hours. We came up with the "perfect man" Which was pretty much the opposite of every guy Id had a serious relationship with. He was someone who was good looking, but didnt know he was good looking. (ie, not cocky, like alot of good looking men) He came from a religious family. Even though I am not religious, I think being raised with some kind of religion is very important to what kind of person you are. Both my most recent exes parents were athiest. He must have siblings. Both my most recent exes were only children. We (my best friend and I) decided that men who are only children tend to be very spoiled and are used to always getting their way, in turn HORRIBLE in relationships. And then of course the usual, someone who is funny and caring. Someone who I can be myself around. Has a good job and goals in life. etc. Oh yeah and as random and vein as it may sound....someone who likes tattoos. My ex HATED my tattoos and thought they were trashy and wouldnt allow me to get anymore.So, its important to me to find someone who is into the same things as I am. The wierd thing is, after about 2 months I met a guy who has all of these things. He has 2 brothers..he is a middle child (like me). His dad is a pastor and he is extremely good looking, but for whatever reason hasnt realized it yet. Oh yeah, and he has even more tattoos than me. ;)

Hmm, I've never been into "perfect on paper" guys, but a good education, good credit, a sense of humor, confidence, reasonably low debt, a stable, well-paying job, passion for life and his future, a good relationship with his family, little to no baggage (kids, exes, etc,) a home or condo of his own, and enough time/flexibility to travel is always nice. :) Luckily, my fiancé (we just got engaged!) is all of the above, plus all the other quirky things that made me fall in love with him! :P

I thought the good on paper guys were just that....good on paper, but not someone you would be with. The ones that you tell youself, "he's sooo perfect, but I just don't have that connection. Why can't I just like him?" So they have everything, but you are missing chemistry or a great connection.

I am a "looks good on paper girl" so what I would look for in a "looks good on paper guy" is the same attributes. I have a bachelors degree that is paid off and I'm not even in my mid twenties. I have a good paying job with all of the right investments for my future. I have a new car, which is my only form of dept. Some traits I don't have that I would be looking for is someone who is nice to everyone, outgoing, close to his family, and good looking, but not too much. Someone who would be a great father, and likes the chance to take care of me once in a while.

Intelligent, can hold a conversation, likes to try new things, likes to travel, passionate, caring, loyal, tells me he appreciates me, ambitious, and has his own car, place to live, and job. And handsome and likes to hang out with my family and helps around the house. Luckily, I found him and married him. : )

Perfect on paper? hum...don't know. My hubby went to the right unis, top unis in his field but i didn't know that until much later on (he was also the youngest to have accepted in that year and managed to get an honour in his first degree!), Needless to say I am dead proud but this doesn't mean I won't dump him if things go wrong (hopefully it won't). I think good on paper maybe to me means educated? And that is only half the battle in a relationship anyway, the other half is the constant work that you put into it..

Comes from same kind of background as me (farm, middle class, moderate political views), but has chosen to do something else than farming (still understands and appreciates his background). Academic education is not a must, but I would like to be someone who is interested in political and sociological themes. Good looking, manners and so on also give plus poins but I think it would ideal to be with someone who comes from similar background.
