Even after months and months of planning for a wedding, it's inevitable that something will go wrong. Whether it's a minor hiccup or a full-blown disaster, all brides have been there. So ladies, even if you aren't hitched, do tell, what was the worst wedding day disaster you've ever heard of or experienced?

Ok, after reading these stories, mine's nothing to compare with, except that I went to an Italian family wedding. My cousin was 2-1/2 hours late to the reception because the entire wedding party had pictures and "stopped for cocktails" (as if they hadn't had enough PRIOR to the wedding), and so there was 250 people STARVING...When they finally got to the reception the DJ says, "First, we will announce the wedding party (18 people), and then the bride and groom will have their first dance, and then we can eat!" The reception was to start at 4:00, and we never got to eat until 6:30 because they were too busy partying across the street. She has sisters, and I am not going to either of their weddings when they get married because they are a bunch of train wrecks, too. What a waste of a perfectly good Saturday. People are actually still talking about how much this wedding stunk, too.

When I was told so many times before my wedding that no matter what something would go wrong, I just laughed and thought "Not mine, I have covered everything!" Well I was wrong. First, my hairdresser spent way too long on all of my brides maids and only had 30 minutes to do mine. On top of that, she ran out of hairspray! My hair was horribly ugly and only got worse because of the 86% humidity we had that day. Then she overcharged my mom by $200 (I had already paid that deposit and she lied to mom about it!). When mom found out, she cried. Then when we got to the church (after only getting a few photos because we were running so late) we found out the air conditioner was broken. It was 98 degress that day and I already mentioned the humidity. I walked in the church and saw all of the attendants drenched in sweat. After about 5 minutes, I was drenched. My already awful hair was now soaking wet. After we made it through the ceremony, the wrong limo showed up. We had booked a SUV but a sedan came so we crammed 10 people in a limo meant for 8. The air conditioning was broken in there too! When I was getting out of the limo, I stepped on my $1500 dress and tore a hole in the back. After our entrance to the reception (during which the speakers squealed twice) we were ready for our first dance. Or not, because the person who was singing forgot his paper with the lyrics on it. We stood around for about 15 minutes before someone pulled them up on his iphone. The air conditioner just happened to be malfunctioning there too. There were several other things that went badly before the night was over, including my dad getting so drunk he had to be carried out! When we finally got home, we just passed out. Some wedding night.

My wedding was actually not as bad as the ones described here, but nevertheless it left me feeling very disappointed with my immediate family, especially my mother, whom I always tried to please and looked up to for approval for almost everything before I got married. The day before the wedding, my mother just had her own thing planned and didn't showed up at the hotel until almost midnight. The whole thing was a bit of a chaos because my wedding planner sucks to the core. He was "hired" by my mother because the guy is a friend of my brother and my mom never bother to check his recommendations. His rate is much higher than the market rate and my husband and I didn't want to offend my mom's and brother's feeling so we still went ahead with the stupid wedding planner. Did we mention he tried to rip us off every step of the way? He was constantly tying to make us spend more than what is necessary. Our venue as a five star hotel and the guy wanted to rent spare 10.000 watts generator, just in case the hotel's failed (the hotel's rep told us that it was totally unnecessary). Our video guy was my mom's cousin, of course hired by her and totally overcharged us for a very bad video quality (all in the name of keeping good relationship with family and relatives) Our wedding was a Chinese wedding and the tradition is parents will give their gifts at the the tea ceremony. My mother actually took the money from our wedding gift and use it to "give" us our wedding gift, on top of that when I some of the relatives gave the wedding gift to her because they can't come, she just kept them. Due to tradition, the party was all paid by the groom's family and so my mother with her big mouth told my husband that because we only hold one reception she would give us check for the approximate amount of another reception (2 receptions are common for bride and groom who come from different towns) as our seed money so that he can use it as a capital for his new business. My mother told us that she didn't have time to prepare a gift for us and of course she still kept the checks from our other relatives and also the one check that she promised never came. It was never about how expensive something is, it's just the sentimental value that a wedding gift holds that made me feel really sad that I don't have anything for a keepsake. When the picture time arrived, normally the paying family should be given the courtesy to have their picture taken first. But, oh no, my mother instructed the MC to have her aunt be the first. Imagine the look on my in-law's face, and later on my mother mention in front of my husband that my mother in-law is very egoistic for not giving her chance to have enough pictures taken with her relatives and guests. My mother looks down on my husband's family and the whole time during our wedding planning my mother never stopped flaunting how many properties and assets that she has and she actually tried to talk my husband and I into signing a pre-nup so that "her" assets won't end up at my husband's family. To this day, I never felt that my husband is really welcome in the family and worse I feel cut off ever since I decided to marry my husband. It's been almost a year since the whole thing and I still feel hurt every time I think about wedding, I can't stop thinking why people turn a wonderful moment into a stupid circus that just show case their worst nature? At least my husband is a very wonderful person and took the whole thing really well and I am just really thankful that I have him.

These stories made me feel better about my tiny little mishaps. The day before the wedding, it rained, and we were doing photos BEFORE the ceremony, so I couldn't go out in the trees and grass to take photos. So we didn't get many fun photos. (it's better than a muddy dress and shoes.) Then, my sister (and bridesmaid) was helping decorate the getaway vehicle and she accidentally got chalk on her dress and the Tide stick didn't work on it. She was crying and I felt so bad for her. Then, she told me that she gave away where our other car was hidden (so it wouldn't get decorated) so I snapped and made her cry more, so I felt so guilty. Then, because the aisle runner didn't land where it was supposed to, my long chapel train caught the end of it and it was bunching up underneath my train. Luckily somebody caught it and I didn't even notice! I didn't know this until a month after the wedding! My wedding singers hit some sour notes and some buttons fell off the back of my dress, but other than that, it went great. I was a little bummed and wish I hadn't been so cheap with some things, but I could always renew my vows someday when I'm rich (haha) and have a fancy party. ;)

I was a bridesmaid in the worst hillbilly wedding I've ever seen. It just happened three days ago, and I am still reeling from the absolute mess it was. It all started with the bachelorette party, which I was in charge of for some reason...the bride lives 8 hours north of me, and I was the only bridesmaid in my state. I had to chase down the maid of honor (who lives in the same town as the bride and SHOULD have been in charge) for an RSVP (she didn't come), use an entire paycheck to pay for it, and the bride was completely miserable the entire time (even though everything planned was per her request.) Another bridesmaid, who came up from the south, and I drove the 8 hours north to the wedding, and were immediately put to work, chopping food (they didn't have it catered), cleaning, and setting up tables; meanwhile, the bride cried the entire time, while her family argued with each other. The tone was one of complete and utter misery. After the rehearsal dinner, which the other bridesmaid and I set the tables up for, my fiance and 4 other guests arrived in town, after their 8 hour trip, and went to their hotel to relax...but the bride told me to call them all and tell them to come to the reception site to help set up! They were guests at her wedding, and she even put THEM to work! The worst part was after 2 1/2 hours of heavy lifting, they were asked to COME BACK at 9 a.m. the next morning to stuff finger sandwiches! The other bridesmaid and I were not given any directions or times of hair appointments, and had no idea where the rest of the party was on the day of the wedding. We had to ask other guests where the hair salon was and how to get there, and pray that we were on time. The bride and MOH pulled a disappearing act on us. While I was getting my nails done the bride's mother happened to call the salon and ask the woman who was doing my nails to come to make a house call because the bride was too exhausted to drive there...I was left alone in a backroom in a strange town with my nails half-done, but at least I finally found out where they were. The bride cried the entire day of her wedding, complained about how tired and miserable she was, while the groomsmen leered at me and the other bridesmaid. They had no teeth and no social skills, just like the groom. After waiting about 5 minutes for an introduction, I finally did it myself, but they never actually said their names, they just said "hi." We looked at the program to figure out who they were. The tables at the reception were so close together that people had to turn sideways to squeeze through, the DJ's sound equipment malfunctioned, the bride's family took the food inside 2 hours after we all got there (we were drinking - it was BYOB), and the bride fell asleep at the head table. My fiance and the four others who had driven up the night before were told to pass out champagne to guests, and my fiance was also told to lug a bucket of dirt outside for guests to use as an ashtray (he was dressed in his shirt and tie). For some reason, the bride and her family assumed that because they were friends with two of the bridesmaids that they should work at the wedding...I was in absolute shock at the rudeness. The wedding was a disaster and I am never going to speak to her again.

1. My uncle got married in an abandoned "haunted" hotel, where his mother was married. We kept hearing weird noises through the entire wedding, and we decided to go exploring during the reception, which was held in the "ballroom" of the hotel. We ran into a large group of homeless people who literally chased us out of the hotel, wedding party included. My uncle called the cops, but by the time they got there, all of our purses, the wedding presents, and most of the food was gone.

My wedding disatsters were multiple. I had planned my wedding two years in advance. A year before the wedding, my venue for the reception went backrupt, closed and ran off with all of the deposists and money. Fortunately we had paid using Credit Card so we were able to get reimbursed. I had to re-plan the entire venue because the ceremony location hinged on the reception site. I re-planned everything and all was well until a couple months in. My bachelorette almost bombed because BOTh of my maids of honour could not attend (and they were planning it!), they had nothing planned, and my bridesmaids had to pull something together THE NIGHT BEFORE! The night before the wedding I discovered that the birdesmaid's purses I ordered were all in the box but MY PURSE (it was in place of my bouquet) was never ordered. Fortunately my mom had bought a similar purse and I used hers and she got one for free from the store. My dressed tore when my maids were getting me into it (an inner tear), my one maid broke her zipper getting into her dress and had to be sewn into it, they thought they lost my veil, and our Best man and flower girl were late. The ceremony was fabulous, pics were great, we had our first dance and ate, and by 8:15pm I was in our hotel room throwing up with a migraine I missed the ENTIRE reception besides the meal. I was sooooo bummed. I was still feeling unwell the next day when we left for our honeymoon. Phew. I am still bummed, but we may renew our vows in a year or two.

its probably waaaayyy to late to post this but what the hell. i was just married last month and my wedding was just absolutely crazy. it was a bunch of little things that just added up. To start, I had decided to do all centerpieces and flower arrangements myself considering the parents who were wanting to "pay for the wedding" decided to knock off the already low budget about 70% off the original ONE MONTH before the wedding.(if i had known i would have chosen a cheaper honeymoon and paid for it all myself) They decided they didn't want to pay shipping for wholesale flowers and instead said they could find a "deal". well everyone gets in town a day before the wedding (3 days later then planned)..still no flowers. I am scrambling to piece together everything, meanwhile have to pick up guests at the airport because no one arranged for rental cars. When i went to pick up the dress later in the evening it was too big, and the seamstress embroidered the wrong day and name inside the dress. The minister calls that night to say he has been hospitalized sick (night before our morning wedding). There isn't a garter for the bride. The person who was picking it up completely forgot. The maid of honors boyfriend decided to go on an early morning garter hunt and gets lost for hours in the back roads of the mountains. so no garter removal. I show up with my dress and bridesmaids as scheduled only to find that it is 30 min til show time and no one else in the bridal party is there while the guests are arriving. The ceremony and reception was taking place at the same location, there were no decorations, no food, no cake. Guests are arriving and start sitting down at tables wondering if they were at the right location..so embarrassing! I get a call from my husband to be, saying how my mom and aunts arrived at our house just a little while ago and are preparing and COOKING food at about 10 min til because they were apparently too tired (drunk) to cook the night before. She even told him she was going to set everything up while we went ahead and did the ceremony ..?!? hello...she's the mother of the bride. the mother of the bride finally shows up with curlers in her hair and barefoot LOL The one hot day of the month was of course the day of the ceremony (50 degrees the entire month) And no one arrived early enough to move the wedding setup OUT of the 90 degree heat. (the back up plan) we had to last minute pay someone $150 to stand up and read the vows we had already written. We were promised fans at the location if the weather was too hot..there were no fans. The groom who had broken his shoulder a few months prior spent his entire morning picking up over $100 in ice and coolers (because the mother of the bride didn't believe there was an icemaker at the event!) and loading trucks outside (a job my brothers were going to do) so he arrives absolutely exhausted and soaked in sweat while my brothers arrived groomed and primped.The entire bridal party finally arrives and starts almost 2 hours after the original time. during the ceremony we are literally sweating our asses off it was HOT. i kept wiping sweat off of the grooms cheek. The ring wouldn't fit on my finger because i had a huge cut that was oozing from cut glass on the decorations the night before. whoever was responsible for setting up the ceremony chairs did so too close to the trees, meaning the groomsmen were hidden practically underneath a huge oak the entire ceremony. The flowers were the wrong color (no biggie) but most were just sitting in a huge pile next to the cake(which was ordered wrong and ended up being a grocery store last minute cheap cake)besides the groom, the men weren't wearing any flowers. the DJs equipment stopped working about 10 min into the reception due to heat. so we barely had any music we paid for during the entire reception. the DJ had voice issues and had hired someone else to do all the talking, which mispronounced almost all of the names! The first dance song was wrong and the grooms mother decided to give a very drawn out ..drunken speech mid reception.,They are still not talking. more then half of the decorations i worked day and night on were left behind. It was honestly one of the worst days of my life we both WORKED during our entire wedding,..which was ok until everyone left the location (who origionally said they would stay to clean up on this low budget wedding) except for a few people. i literally had to stay at my own wedding still in my huge wedding dress packaging up leftover food and wiping down counters. ..it was just all so completely ridiculous!! Wedding really do teach you alot about the people you know and love. At least the honeymoon was amazing!

I can beat all of your worst wedding days EVER...Starting with...Me and my beautiful wife got married on Oct. 1st 2006.. (SUNDAY) the wedding ended about 1pm.. Myself and my wife was driving down I-65 in KY. To go to Florida we were taking a 5 night cruise to the Bahamas.. at 2:03pm a tractor-trailer (SEMI) side swiped us badly..put myself and my new wife in the hospital..I still have some pain in my left knee and elbow as of today.. And my wife still has alot of pain in her back and forehead..Fist the truck part hit us hard..The truck went 4 feet into our lane, we had nowhere to go. Then he hit us again with the trailer, The state trooper said if it wasn't for us being in a small SUV we would not survived.... We were in grave pain.. her back and forehead, my knee and elbow..also my ankle got cracked, but heeled.. still have some pain, in bad weather..We took alot of pics of the accident (other people did for us).. We didn't get to enjoy our wedding night at all.. I couldn't make love to my wife for about 8 months after our wedding.. We still are only able to make love about 2-4 times a month if that.. We at that time lost our Jobs because we drove tractor-trailers our selves at that time.. She can never drive a truck again.. me I just started to drive again in the past 2 years.. its so hard.. with out here with me.. We were a team driving couple.. NO MORE OF THAT.. Well I've never been married, so I don't have any embarrassing stories. I imagine that on that day that things of the unexpected and out of our control does happen...just like in day to day life. They may happen more on special events like weddings because it is such a special day, looked forward to, and anticipated...this sometimes leads to nervousness. I invisioned my wedding so many ways while growing up as a child. I now think that weddings should be something that is cherrished between the two that are getting married and perhaps family and close friends. It doesn't matter if the wedding is a million dollar wedding or something that is small and eligant, as long as you are with the one you love and have few to witness the event...all that matters is the day and being with that special person.

My brother in law knocked over a huge candle stick holder during a very quiet part of the ceremony. Everything was perfect and when it happened no one could stop giggling. He quickly grabbed it and was so embarassed he walked outside for a minute for a breath of fresh air. Not so funny was a wedding I went to. I don't know what exactly happened but it went from a beach setting to an office where the bride worked. There we were with maybe just 20 guests in an office space... There she was in her gown. Someone used a tape player for music and a friend who was a notary public held the ceremony. A few candles were lit and her stupid father made a strange speech about not really accepting her husband due to his religious beliefs. Wow. I felt so bad and was so frustrated for them I cried after we left.

On my "wedding day", we got married in front of a Judge in District Court. My parents and ex-stepmother; my man's mother, his two brothers his aunt, his cousin, and our best friends were there. My ex-stepmom was taping everything to document the courtroom we were being married in and how it all went down. There was a woman and another couple waiting outside the courtroom. At the time, I paid no mind and thought maybe they were there for another wedding. All the sudden, the bailiff shows up, and says, "All arise, the honorable [judge] proceeding." We all look at each other like, HUH? Then the judge looked at my ex-stepmom and says, "Turn off the camara, this is a divorce proceeding." So, we had to watch a divorce before we got married! And I was in tears, with my makeup streaking and nose running! The judge took my man and I in the judge's chambers to pay for the services. He had the nerve to ask me if I had allergies!! So, we come out of the chambers get married. The whole time, I am crying. During our vowels, my man calls me "My Awfully Wedded Wife." And I choked up before I could say "To Have and To Hold." Then, we didn't even get a honeymoon because at the time my man worked at a company that wasn't paying enough taxes to the IRS and we had to send our "honeymoon money" to pay income taxes. Talk about a horrid wedding! And I have the tape to prove it!!

I got married on Saturday and it turned out to be a total waste of time. I havent stopped crying, i feel so betrayed. My partner turned up off his head on drugs and alcohol. He was so rude and ignored me the whole day/night. Him and the bestman looked like they just steped outa the rubbish dump. I have only a few random photos with him n i together, no speeches no cutting of the cake no kisses nothing but heartache. Im gutted

my friend was in a wedding party not long ago where they discovered the morning of the wedding that one of the bridesmaids had the wrong colored dress... and the bridesmaid with the wrong colored dress was pregnant. after calling ann taylor's all over the state, they managed to find the right dress in a size that might fit the pregnant bridesmaid in another city. who brought the dress to the wedding? one of the bride's sorority sisters who was (or had been) upset that she wasn't part of the bridal party. the offending bridesmaid was putting the dress on while the rest of the girls were lining up in the back of the church. thankfully, the dress fit!

Hmm.... I've been to some really bad weddings... The worst one I went to the bride got left at the altar in favor of the best man. As one of the bridesmaids, I had a ringside seat for this. The groom stopped the wedding in the middle of the vows, looks at the bride and says "I'm sorry. I just can't do this." Then he looks over at the best man, "Come on, Toby. We're out of here." They kiss and leave together. I thought the bride's father, who was footing the bill for everything, was going to explode. Fortunately, the groom and Toby left before violence could ensue. My cousin, who sometimes I think isn't the sharpest tool in the shed, married the same douchebag twice. She's older than I am and was still married to Pete the first time when I was in high school. Pete spent one entire Thanksgiving hitting on me when I was about 16. He was about twice that age at the time. She finally gets tired of Pete and his bull so she divorces him. He's absolutely awful to her during the divorce. She's working as a waitress at this place and he'd come in with a date and pay the maitre d to seat them in her section, where he'd proceed to make out with his date while she had to wait on them. About 2 years after the divorce was final, she announces, much to everyone's surprise that she's going to marry Pete again. OMG! There were so many signs from God not do this. He got into a car wreck on the way to the church. My uncle had to go pick him up and one of my other cousins had to go and oversee the removal of the car because the policeman wouldn't let them "abandon" the car while waiting for the wrecker to come. She had car trouble and couldn't get there. Another cousin had to go pick her up. As soon as they got there, a storm blew in and lightening hit the church, knocking out the entire electrical system. The hair dresser left in disgust. So much for the wedding day 'do. There was blue fire shooting out the wall sockets and anything that was plugged in was smoking. The alteration people delivered the dress and it was the wrong one. My cousin is tiny. She wears a 0 but the dress that they brought would have fit an elephant. The best man didn't get the right shoes for Pete and the place was closed. Pete ended up wearing his cowboy boots with his tux. The ring bearer, who was 3, swallowed the rings so the rings they exchanged came from one of those 25 cent machines in the lobby of the local grocery store. The reception was just as big a disaster too. The flower girl fell into the punch bowl (red punch) while trying to help herself. The ring bearer knocked over the wedding cake and broke the ceramic cake topper into about a million pieces. The deviled eggs on the buffet made a lot of people sick. Thank god I'm allergic to eggs and didn't eat any. A glictch in the music system meant that the first dance was done to "Sweet Home Alabama" instead of the waltz they'd been rehearsing. At the end when it was time for everyone to go home, there was a big drunken brawl in the parking lot at the banquet hall over who was and was not sober enough to drive home. It pretty much became a his family vs. her family in about 35 seconds flat. Needless to say when she announced that she was divorcing Pete a second time, there was much rejoicing. Yes, that was my own ex-husband....I heard about one, didn't attend it, where the bride's younger brother decided to be a brat. When the minister called for any objections, the little monster raised his hand and said, "She can't cook!" Totally ruined sis's big day.

My Aunt's wedding is a classic in our family. She's an ex stripper now hippie and she married a guy the same age as my older sister (and totally trashy). THey got married at an old Howard Johnson hotel. It was catered by a friend of theirs named Gnome. Yes Gnome. The officiant had to ask for Gas money the day before because he wouldn't have been able to make it without it. And he showed up in gray jeans and a t-shirt. We had to scramble to find decent clothes for him. When the ceremony part was over all the groomsmen changed out of their tux's and into jeans and t-shirts. Oh but before that they had to take pictures right? Well they had just bought a new mustang and John wanted to take wedding pictures in front of it, so they left to go get the new car. Everyone had to sit around and wait for like 2 hours while they went and got the car THEN took pictures. We couldn't eat or anything, but Gnome had already set out all the food. Oh man it sucked so bad.

My story isn't awful--just proves that no matter how you plan, things will happen anyway. I was married December 2003 in a beautiful Victorian B&B decorated for x-mas. I live in California so the worst that happens is rain. I planned for that--the large porch was covered...so check! Alas the judge who was performing the ceremony was very soft spoken and right as he was performing the ceremony (the words of which were original--not your average vows and really lovely)the sky opened up and the rain was so loud that you couldn't hear a damn thing. Then, my poor husband had to stand in his place while ice cold water leaked through, landing on his head and running down his collar. I had also made very extensive arrangements for any small children (I had wanted no children present but that turned out not to be possible) to be taken care of in a place away from the ceremony. I was determined not to have a screaming or crying child disrupt the ceremony. Yeah. One of my friends had a 6 mos old son and kept getting around the people who were telling her to leave him with the baby sitters. You can guess what happened. Right after the rain started--so did the baby. She still had him with her!!! LOL Sheesh So much for that! And yes it was as disruptive as I feared it would be! LOL Basically no one heard a word. Before the cermony I had issues with the hairdresser who rushed me through my appt because she had something else to do--despite the fact that I had booked months in advance. The rooms at the B&B weren't ready when we arrived and waited for 3 hours to get in the room. None of my 4 bridesmaids showed up to help me dress as they were all too busy primping in their own rooms. I finally got into my dress with the help of two friends who WEREN'T in the bridal party fifteen minutes before I had to be ready to go. (can't lace yourself up in a corset!) Bridesmaids joined me minutes brfore I was to go down to the ceremony. Very helpful. I was really pissed at my Matron of Honor as I had been her Maid of Honor and had done EVERYTHING I could to make her day special and perfect. Favor not returned. LOL But I never lost my cool because I didn't lose sight of the real reason for the day--marrying the love of my life. After that...all the things that went wrong (and there were more) just made good stories to laugh about.
