Do Tell: What Makes a Power Couple?

We are all familiar with red-hot celebrities, but when two famous people in their own right get together and form a romantic relationship, many would consider them to be a power couple. But what exactly makes someone a power couple? Well if you tune into Oxygen's 25iest Power Couples tonight at 10 p.m. on the Oxygen Network, Molly and me will tell you just what we think it is that makes people like Will and Jada, Brad and Angelina, and Ellen and Portia Hollywood power couples! But in the meantime, do tell, what qualities do you think make someone a power couple?

Power couples? I would do more serious research. I think of people more authentic than celebrities, such as those involved in politics or working for the state department. I would think of two people running a big farm in Africa or owning a vineyard together. I would think of a powerful business man married to a heiress. A lead research scientist married to a mysterious spy or talented architect matched with a well known artist. An astronaut married to a doctor. It would entail a success each in their own right and bringing it to the table at dinner time. Those are people we would all like to be around, and have another glass of wine with, no?

A power couple is two people who compliment each other in ways that noone else can. It has nothing to do with money, but more with how they are together.

I don't believe celebrities are power couples because I don't care about them. Instead of convincing me to do something, I find them annoying and ignore them. Also, listening to talk them makes me realize how uneducated and incoherent they are. I would never look up to people I can't respect because of lack of morals (dear God, look at Angelina and Brad) or of intelligence (Yeah, that's you, Tom!)I agree with people's definitions of power couples, but celebrities don't get things done. They rely on their connections, so they are just as "normal" as everyone here. The only celebrity I might want to befriend would be Arnold because he's California's governor, and I live here. I believe the people getting things done are the people whose name aren't often mentioned. Directors have more say in who gets to be in movies. Befriending a celebrity might help you ultimately meet the producers and directors, but that's all they can do...They're middlemen.

A powercouple is a couple where both participants are household names. Not because there with that person. TomKat NO they only reason why they know her name is cause she going out with him! Posh and Becks YES! Will and Jada NO half the people don't know her name only Will's wife! Portia and Ellen NO nobody knows Portia and if they weren't together they would know her at all! Brangelina YES! Beyonce and Jay-Z YES!

They are individually a force in their industry. Together they have so much pull it's ridiculous. They have... hello... power. Not only are they people in high places but they know people in high places. No one says "who's that?" when their names are mentioned.

I would say a power couple is one where each side is very successful in their own right, or at least doesn't have his/her personality overshadowed by the other half. 5/6 of these have that. I don't think Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise do. I think Will Smith is a lot more successful than his wife, but she still seems like she has a strong personality and is distinct from him. In addition to being successful on their own, a power couple also enhances and supports the success of their mate.

Why would I lie....okay, a power couple are two people in a successful relationship outside of making alot of money together. These people know people that know people, in order to make MORE money! Everyone knows their name!
