Do Tell: What Inappropriate Questions Do People Ask You?

Have you ever been asked by either a friend or an acquaintance something that was just totally inappropriate and/or way too personal? I certainly have! Similarly to hearing words of wisdom that I loath, some people have no qualms asking questions that I feel cross the line. "Why are you still single?," "How much did that cost?" and "You don't look very happy, what's wrong?" are just a few that strike a nerve with me, but ladies, do tell, what questions do you find inappropriate or rude?

I can't tell if it's being female, or having a more quiet personality, but I feel like I receive too many overboard questions when people are trying to either break the ice. Not all women are extroverted or chatty, I don't give a shit if TV and the movies make it seem that way. Not all women smile all the time, like someone who is extroverted or chatty would. It doesn't mean I am incapable of being nice, or that I must be a psychopath. But if you're rude with me, just for the sake of saying something, I probably will respond defensively or may be rude back. I'd give you a "you should know better" slap, but I could be arrested for assault and battery. bf's redneck brother visits and the minute bf is out of earshot, he grills me about when we're having children (b/c of course they have to come before marriage) at dinner with his own wife and kids. I was in shock and no one came to my defense. And he offered to give parenting advice to me, twice! What an audacious ass!
Always asking "What'd that cost ya?" or "How much do you pay for this house? and THEN how much do your BILLS run you a month?"!!! "How much do you make there?" and THEN "How many hours do you work?"....????? Do you need to borrow my calculator so you can get the EXACT amount in my bank account? And WHY, exactly, do you need to know this? Some people are so tacky.

I am tired of being asked about having more children as well. Especially because we've been trying for a year and a half with help from doctors with no luck. It's a pretty personal question, people. STOP ASKING!
One I got on the bus was "Are you in college?" which caught me off-guard. Then the pedo put his arms around me!
Can someone please tell me the motivation behind asking the question "Do you think you're pretty?" WHY would someone ask that and what the hell is an appropiate answer?!
I am totally sick of being asked WHY for everything... but the ones I can't stand ... after ordering at a restaurant... Is that what you ordered? or Why are you eating that? .... I want to say, No, the waiter brought me what he wanted me to eat... and I'm eating this because it will make me ill....

This is usually asked if I just whanna watch a movie by myself and it's a girly show or Dr. Phil and no one else will watch with me. I'm not being anti social. I get asked many offensive questions but one in particular that takes the cake: "Are you a virgin?" Simple answer: F*CK OFF AND MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS.
To Anonymous who left comment #136, don't worry - I was actually a couple of pounds lighter even and about your same height as a teenager and it sucked how people always commented on it. But the reality is that, as long as you take care of yourself, in a few years you'll gain a couple pounds in curves and everyone else will just be FAT! Then you may still get snotty comments but they'll just be from girls who are jealous that all the guys are checking you out. But really, I feel your pain. I was your age twenty years ago, and they didn't regularly carry anything under size 5 ANYWHERE! So not only did I feel like a twig, but everything was baggy and unflattering. At least now you have Forever 21! Try to find someone in their 20s whose style you admire and ask them to help you find the most flattering cuts and sillouettes to flatter your body - it can make a huge difference.
im constantly asked "omg your so thin"-and not in a good way, they say it like there grossed out ,how much do you weight" and when i answer them they say something like really??!! you dont look like you weight that much! its soooo annoying, HELLO!? im 13 im 5,5 and 100.3 pounds!! i know im really thin, why do you have to rub it in!!?? it really hurts and makes me feel bad about myself! i also hate it when people ask what are your grades?? what the F***?soo not your buisnness!!!!!
I sometimes get people asking me "is that your hair"? Uuugh, it's so rude and annoying.
this site helps so much, what's worse is they know you are uncomfortable and they go hard, gossiping with eachother sharing their results, so how do you actually respond to this crap

"How much do you make?" is a question, asked by complete strangers sometimes, that I find profoundly disturbing. Another one is when this woman in the elevator asked if I was eating enough. WTF? "Where do you come from? Are you Spanish?" I find it tiring to have to explain to people that I'm from Italy, not spain. But people still call me Hispanic.

If they ask me about having kids, I ask them if they've started saving so that they can bail theirs out when they're teenagers. If they ask me about my weight, I eyeball them and say something like "Isn't that the pot calling the kettle black?" or "Why don't you tell me what you're doing? That way I know not do that since it obviously isn't working for you." The big one was "When are you & X getting married?" My answer to that was "Misery loves company, I see."

Whenever I take a sick day from work once or twice a year, it never fails that coworkers ask me upon my return to work why I got sick and what symptoms I had. It's really strange to me that they would want to know the details...I certainly don't want to hear about your stomach flu or whatever you caught. Gross. How about I just say I felt crappy, okay!

The question I hate so much is "how much do you weigh" or "don't you exercise" That drives me crazy. I don't get that much anymore because I've lost a lot of weight, but just thinking about it erks me. Ugh.

Man i'm so open minded and blunt that nothing really bothers me.. i'm super honest so I don't mind people asking advice and opinions and why this and why that lol

My husband and i were station in germany for almost 2 years. i was very home sick while we lived there. He was always working, and he was never home. We were never able to fly back home for a vist, so while i was there to comfort myself i ate therefore gaining some wieght. After coming back home EVERYONE was asking if i was pregnant. it got really old so i started working out, then when i finally got a job, everyone was telling me to stop working out becuse its not going to be good for the baby!!! i was just like WTF!!! one day i broke down in tears!! it was so heart breaking!!!

Anytime someone asks "when are you having kids?" or "How do you deal with that?" or any one of another obnoxious question...reply back very calmly and say "When are you going to dye? Aren't you worried about death? Your how old?" This will probably get a mixed response, but it makes it very clear to the person that they are asking a question you dont' feel is very appropriate, and a way for you to get the message acrossJust a thought! Hope it made someone laugh...its meant to be funny.
