Do Tell: Do You Like To Be Alone When You're Sick?

If you haven't noticed, it's flu season. I feel like everywhere I turn, someone's sneezing, coughing, or blowing their nose — gross! I haven't caught the bug yet, but when I do, I can guarantee that I'm going to want to be left alone. I'm not one that likes being doted on, but I know a lot of people who enjoy the company of their roommate, best friend or significant other when they're under the weather. Ladies, since it's that time of the year again, do tell: Do you like to be left alone when you're sick or do you feel better having someone to commiserate with?

It depends. If I just have a cold or something of the sort, I wouldn't mind the the company and chicken noodle soup. If I have the flu or anything that involves going to the bathroom a lot, throwing up, or even just feeling like throwing up, I'd rather be left alone. When I'm sick like that, I get irritated by the smallest things (even just having the TV on).

i'm already a b*tch when i'm not sick. would you really want to deal with me when i'm stuffed, sneezing, aching, missing work all because someone passed their filthy germs to me??????beware or endure my wrath!! (muhhhahahahhahaha).the only thing i would need from loved ones is to go to the store and buy medicine, other than that, leave me alone.

Ughh! Leave me alone! Being in the same home is okay, bringing soup and checking in on me once in a while is perfect. Do NOT lay on the bed and watch cartoons with me or anything else. I don't want to feel like I need to keep a conversation going with you.

I like being alone on my couch with the tv on (if my head doesn't hurt too badly) with someone occasionally checking on me.

I'm currently flu bugging right now!I got it bad last week, Thursday and Friday I was immobile.It was great to have my BF around. He ran to the drug store, made me soup for dinner, super helpful & wouldn't have made it thru very easily without him.I didn't want him hanging out in bed with me, cause I didn't want him getting what I had, but it was great to have him around.

This is the perfect topic, since I spent this weekend nursing my boyfriend back to health. He was so concerned about getting me ill, but I couldn't resist snuggling and cuddling with him.

When I'm sick, I like to go at it ALONE. Everyone seems to want to help me out when I'm not feeling well, and I know they mean well, but it's so annoying. Chances are, I'm concentrating on making the pain and sniffles go away, and someone else babbling about how I should have worn my coat and asking me if I'm SURE I don't want to see the doctor is annoying.

For the most part I like to be alone. It is nice if someone checks up on me once a day (to make sure I haven't keeled over) and to see if I need anything. But I don't want to give anyone else my cold...and I'm usually a trainwreck when I'm sick so it's probably better to not let anyone witness that!

I like company when I'm sick...but when I'm in pain, leave me alone if you know what's good for you. I sometimes get really bad stomach pains (feels like stabbing) and when my boyfriend stares at me, wishing he could do something, I end up snapping at him (stop looking at meeee!) and then end up feeling worse.

I am in the middle. I like to sleep a lot but if I am awake I like to be around my boyfriend. He will do really cute things like go out and buy me gingerale and crackers and make sure I have enough blankets and pillows and let me watch whatever like putting Friends DVDs on! =)

when i am sick i sleep for 2-3 days straight, so it really doesnt matter to me if others are around. its nice to come out of hibernation to my bf though :)

i def dont wanna be baby-ed, and i dont wanna cuddle when im snotty and fleghmy. i would like an occasional kiss on the forehead or the hand....some chicken soup made for me is nice also...but dont smother me plzzzz (and no one does really =P ) haha

I'm so grumpy and I get impatient and irritable when people are aorund when I'm sick. but it is nice every now and then to have someone to make my tea if I don't feel like it

I like to be left alone. I usually hide out in my bed and zone out in front of the tv. My hubby will check on me but i prefer to be by myself and just be miserable! I like having him in the other room if i need him but i get cranky and don't want to be bothered.

Last night I had a headache so bad I couldn't move without feeling like my head would absolutely explode. Shifting positions even slightly was excruciating. My boyfriend helped me in countless ways (getting various medicine, water etc) and I was so thankful he was there to make the experience slightly less horrendous. In general, though, I can go either way when I'm sick. I like knowing someone is looking in on me, but but I'm happy just being alone and/or sleeping. I think I would go crazy if someone was being too officous though and would prefer being left alone to having someone in my face all day.

"I can tell you that being alone while you're sick makes the whole experience a lot more depressing." This is all so individual, though. I would be so much happier when sick if I could go out of town, not see a single soul I know, and just be completely alone.
