Do Tell: Do You Have a Valentine's Day Tradition?

Valentine's Day is quickly approaching, so I'm sure most of you are getting your plans in order as we speak. Getting a reservation or coming up with a unique way to celebrate with your loved one can be stressful, which is why so many couples come up with a Valentine's tradition to rely on. My parents have been doing the same thing for years now — it gives them something to look forward to — but what about you? Do you and your significant other have a Valentine's Day tradition? If so, tell us about it!

My husband and I make trade off years making each other dinner - this is my year. We surprise each other with what we're going to make and try to out-do each other (in a friendly, competitive way...and I'm totally going to kick his a** this year.). It's nice to just stay home and not go to a restaurant where they up they prices just because it's Valentine's Day.

No traditions for Valentines Day. This year we are doing the holiday "big" though (well bigger than we have in the past lol). We've reserved a room at one of the hotels on the strip and we'll be seeing a show that night as well. We'll just spend the afternoon/evening and most of the next day all to ourselves. And I'll have special treats for the children for Valentines day (that is a tradition).

We're not huge on celebrating on the 14th, but we try to do something romantic together in that week. However, he has started doing romantic things on V-Day. He also just informed me that he swears V-Day is purposely after the Super Bowl so that men can thank their SO's for letting them watch football all day and trash the house with their friends. Works for me!

Traditionally both of us have ignored vday - ha - but we've only been together since last March. This year I got him a subscription to Sports Illustrated...we'll see if he does anything for me. My brother and sister-in-law will be visiting, so he'll look bad if he doesn't!

the first night he ever took me out we went to love park in philly -- not to be cheesy though ha, he is anti mushy. he's just always been in love with love park, he grew up skating there. every valentines now we go eat dinner at joy tsin lau in chinatown and then go sip coffee at love park.

This will be my fourth Valentine's Day with my hubby...we usually just do a nice, romantic dinner somewhere and maybe catch a movie. Honestly, I don't care what we really do...we have the best time together and it's just nice to be with him!

aww these are sweet! hmmm I guess we've been together for 4 v-days now, but I can only remember the last two!!! the last 2 we have stayed home and cooked (I cooked sushi and pad thai in 07, he cooked eggplant parmesan in 08). we're doing that again this year, but early-ish, because we have symphony tickets that night. love it for v-day to be on a weekend night!

jetta: yay for mexico vacations! we are leaving the week after our anniversary :)krys: its our 5th anniversary on february 13th too!haha i think its kinda funny that such a big anniversary is falling on friday the 13th this year

marni & jettagirl...me too! our 5th anniversary is feb 13th so we always pick a really nice restaurant that we wouldn't normally go to, and have a nice dinner to celebrate both! (wish we could afford the great vacations like you guys!) we also have this "all about us" question book that we started writing in about 3 years ago, so we always try to fill some of the answers after our valentine's day dinner! :)

Marni- I'm in the almost exact same boat as you. Our anniversary is Valentines Day too. We went to Ft Launderdale last year and this year we are off to Mexico :)

no tradition yet as this will be our first, but we're going to a concert and i'm sure to dinner and drinks and whatnot....it will be very "us" since we met at a concert too. i'm very excited. it will be fun but also romantic in our own way.

well valentine's day is the day after our anniversary and this year we are going to Mexico to celebrate both! (Last year we went to the Bahamas) I am hoping its a tradition that sticks ;) We also make each other cards home made stuff to exchange
