A Do or a Don't: Period Pet Names

I’m a fan of slang terms (uh, lady business!), but there’s something that just bothers me when people use a slang term for their periods. I mean there's nothing cute about a period! I completely understand wanting to avoid using menstruation to describe what’s typically an unpleasant few days, but “period” is just so much less visual and more succinct than Aunt Flo, crimson wave, on the rag, or the monthly gift. So are you with me on this one? Does it bother you to hear these silly names? If not, how do you describe your period?

I just say "it's that time of the month" because that's always what my friends and I have said...lol :)

My friends and I just say we are 'online' or 'my onlinity has arrived' My older sister calls it her 'red gremlin' or just 'gremlin'

I say that I'm "out of commission" got the "red tide" or just come out and say that I'm "bleeding profusely from my lady parts! Now fetch me a Nurofen!"

When my boyfriend asks what's wrong I just say "girl shit" and he says "Oh" and that's the end of it. But usually he doesn't even have to ask, he knows because the days preceding the period are pretty bad for us both. The poor dear puts up with a lot.

My mom, sister and me call it our "bluetooth" because we kept synching up when we all lived in the same house :pI hate the name the rag, dislike auntie flo.With my husband I usually say I'm cramping bad, or am bleeding (in context he knows what I'm talking about), or I just say "no baby this time :(".

Oh gosh, I hate it when people use silly nicknames for it!! For example, at school, some people will use some pet name right in front of some guys, and think that they don't realize what it means. That sounded immature, but this was a situation where I really did not like the girl, and I felt like it was so awkward of her.

I remember once telling my boyfriend that I had cramps and he went, "Oh. Is TOM visiting?" to which I replied, "Who's Tom?" and he just went, "You know... Time Of Month?" and ever since then whenever I get my period we refer to it as Tom. The only thing that really bugs me is that I associate it with the creator of MySpace :/

growing up my mom always called it a 'blood-y'. as in 'i have a blood-y right now' or whatever. it always confused me because i thought she kept cutting herself or something - she used bleed-y for cuts, scrapes etc. my childhood was very confusing.

i call it 'getting my p' or 'i have my p' my ex actually called it that and it stuck lol. tampons are now 'pons'. i call cramps 'pings' with my bff too lol.
