Did Your Parents Know About Your Sex Life?

Kids these days. They're so well behaved! That's what their parents think, anyway. A new poll shows that most parents of children ages 9 to 17 think their kids don't do drugs and don't have sex. Surveys of teens suggest otherwise. Parents these days. They're so naive!

If you were sexually active as a teen, did your parents know?

okay riqht now,i kinda think my mom knows i have a sex life but hopes its not true,im only 15 and i regret losinq it at a younq aqe i just dont kno who to tell her..

I didn't have sex until I was almost 19. I had moved out by then, so no. I think they figure I have sex now, seeing I am married. ;)

Back in the high school days, I did not have an active sex life or even that much of a love life. I just moped around at home, watching YouTube videos and being a good studious daughter until fate and MySpace collided lol.

There was nothing for them to know about. It wasn't applicable back then and it isn't now. I'm 21 and I never even kissed a guy ( or even held hands) much less had sex. I pretty much accepted the fact that I'm unlovable and doomed to be single for the rest of my life. Sometimes I still get really sad and frustrated by it, but overall I think I accepted reality.

Funny story. To me atleast, cause it happened to me- 2 of my friends in high school (girls) came over and we were dying their hair in the bathroom. My dad comes home to my door shut, water running, and all of us laughing and stuff in the bathroom. In the morning I come out to the kitchen and he said "sounded like you had an awesome time last night. way to go!" Never dawned on me what he thought happened until I came out to him and he brought it up. He laughed when I told him what really happened. And was letdown I'm sure. lol

Not applicable, I wasn't sexually active until I was in my early 20's and they know I never did drugs. I was more concerned about my parents when I was in my teens than they were about me - they were having their midlife crisis and were out partying and trying drugs at that time.

I wasnt sexually active, but my mom and i have a good relationship and if i was i would have told her. I wasnt aloud to date untill i was 18.

I think my parents would have to be thick if they thought I was a virgin after waling in on me and my partner having a snog. :p

Excuse the second response. I'm surprised how little things have move on. I have said previously that they knew about half of it (in terms of partners etc and I was very discreet about a same sex fling along the way) but they were aware that I was sexually active when I became of age and this was never a problem or a big deal. I was encouraged to be safe and practice safe sex but it was not a huge taboo.Both my sister and I had the advantage of our parents seeing sex as a positive thing.

I'd like to think that they have no clue. But I think they suspected/assumed that I wasn't a virgin because (my mom told me way after I'm married) they found condoms in one of my old bags After marriage, mom actually is willing to talk about sex with me, which is ok, but I still don't feel that comfortable talking about that with her since she's pretty critical and she's my mom, so I do censor whatever I do talk to her about.

My mom knew, we didn't talk specifics and she never thought it was a huge deal as long as I was being safe. My dad for some reason perceived me as a dorky loser who didn't have nay friends and was surprised when I told him I had a prom date.

I grew up with a "modernized" Mexican mother, but she was not modernized enough to talk sex with. I could talk about anything else, hair dye, makeup, food, going out dancing and drinking, but sex and drugs? No way.

Wasn't an issue for me since I wasn't sexually active. My mom prepared me for it though and expected me to be as a teenager. I'm glad she was smart like that and I'm glad I waited. On the drug and drinking issue, my parents knew my brothers and I drank and experimented with drugs. It was very much expected and considered a part of being a teenager. We all turned out just fine and were able to talk freely with our parents about it since they did the same things when they were younger. It's pretty cool having such open parents.

I didn't have a sex life as a teenager. :P Though, now that I'm an adult and I have one, my parents don't know (but I think they have a feeling I'm sexually active, but they think my boyfriend is the best thing since sliced bread and I'm not pregnant so I don't think they care too much).

I confided in my mom after she suggested I get on birth control. She then proceeded to tell my dad who gave me a very very disconcerting lecture on sex. I was with my high school boyfriend for 4+ years who I lost my virginity to so it wasn't in vain.
