I try to make New Year's resolutions that I can keep — so going to the gym every day is out right away. Last year I told myself that in 2009, I would try to gossip less about people in my life. While my record was less than perfect, I definitely made an effort to stick with my goal throughout the year. Did you stay on track this year?

Yup -- did an Ironman!
1thats funny because after something recently happened i decided to stop gossiping as much as well. but im starting now, not waiting till jan 1st. i have a few other things that i would hope to fix in the new year!
2yep - managed to get a good fitness routine of working out at least 5 days a week.
I wanted to start running and set that as a new years resolution last year with the goal of competing my first 5k. I did not do a 5k (yet) but I originally had said my goal was to do a 5k before I turn 30, so I still have 6 more months to achieve that!
3lol most ppl dont keep them
4Jan 1 is a terrible time to make a commitment-- the preceding 2 or 3 weeks have probably been unusually unhealthy in the arenas of food consumption, exercise and avoiding work, so you are more likely to pick one of those themes for your resolution. Therefore, once your life resumes some normality in early January, your habits return to normal, and you abandon your goal since you don't seem as deficient to yourself as you once were. For example, you may make the resolution to stop eating sweets (since you are coming high off a diet of eggnog butter cake and chocolate truffle caramel surprise), then by Jan. 15 you are back to pasta, sandwiches and burritos-- and so when you are confronted with cake at Rhonda's office party, you blow off your resolution. So, if you must make a New Years resolution, try to imagine your life mid-Spring, or better yet, wait until mid-Spring to make your resolution. By that time, you will have dried out, sobered up, resumed your normal routine, and a worthwhile and achievable lifestyle goal will become clear to you.
5Excellent advice.
6PS Can't remember what my 09 resolution was. I think I will write it down this year.
Last year my goals were to really nurture relationships with my mom and sister and to lose 50 pounds. I was successful in both of those as I'm now 50 pounds thinner and my mom and sister and I have great relationships. I didn't exactly keep my 'resolutions' though, as the resolutions were to not eat certain foods and to exercise every day and I didn't do that. I sort of took the round about way but I met my goals so that counts, right?
7Yep, finally
8Congrats on loosing that 50 pounds *Kristints*! I know that was a lot of hard work.
9And yes, I followed through with my old resolutions too.
10Im still in the best shape Ive been and still gonna get more fit.
11My resolution was to lose weight and I've lost 30lbs so far!! I want to lose another 20lbs so I am going to have the same resolution and keep it going into 2010.
12How come there is no 'didn't make one' option?
13Thanks PinkNC! It definitely was but totally worth it.
