Dear Poll: Would You Date Someone Short?

I have always dated men that are taller and bigger than me - it makes me feel smaller (and who doesn't like that) and safe. Luckily I am only 5'5'', so finding a tall guy isn't difficult, but for taller women out there, it can be tough! So ladies, regardless of your height, tell me, would you ever date someone who is shorter than you?

I always thought i needed a men taller than me, I am 6 feet tall and i thought i need a really tall mate to feel like a girl. Well my now other half is 5'6 and forget about feeling like a girl, he make me feel like a woman! And he slaps me into heels every chance he gets! Who care about height when its real love

I'm 5'11", so that probably eliminates like half of the male population.. but I most definitely prefer guys that are my height or taller. The 6'2"-6'5" range is ideal because I love the way my legs look in heels andn would love to wear them without towering over my guy.

i am 5'2" and dated a guy 5'4" and he was WAY too short for me i couldn't handle it...it just creeped me out for some reason...ick.

2 years ago i would've said no but last year I met this really cute sweet guy. I had a boyfriend so we never went out but had I been single I definitely would have and he was about 4 inches shorter than me so i guess you should never say never;)

I have dated guys shorter than me and I'm not very tall (5'6"). I see nothing wrong with this. If you're confident in yourself and he's confident in himself, it shouldn't be a problem.

I'am 5'5" and the only short guy I ever dated was about 5'7" and his attitude was so Napoleanistic (if that is even a word) that it swore me off of short guys forever. My husband is 6'4", 250 lbs. that I love. I adore big guys.

Im 5'9 and I dated a guy who was 5'7 about 2 years ago... the whole time we dated his friends made fun of us and I felt like a mammoth! We couldnt cuddle together on the couch because I felt like I was crushing him... to me, its a definite turn off...being tall sucks! not only for the reason of being taller than men, but also because if I wear heels I feel like a giant! haha

hatmol3 I'm there with you! without even socks on I"m just over 6' so it's not really an option to say "I'll only date a man who is minimum 3" taller" because that cuts down my choices a lot! I will date shorter, as long as they have no issues with it and can deal with the fact that I'm tall, but I like pretty shoes and that usually means heels! sigh, my boyfriend of two years is 5'7" and i'm 5'8" so it's not a horrible difference and I deal with it, but it's definetly not ideal. but i think that the real reason that it bothers me is b/c he shouldn't be as short as he is. he just has and had the worst eating habits in the world, never gets/got any calcium as a kid, never eats any vegetables, all those things which make you grow, plus the fact that the only thing he drinks is caffeine, and we all know that caffeine stunts your growth. i mean, when you have size 13 feet, your dad is 6'2", your mom's dad is 6'4" you're not supposed to be 5'7". so it bothers me and i haven't worn heels in two years (he doesn't care, i do), but i love him and i deal with it. however, i have a feeling that he's not the boy i'm going to marry b/c i can't imagine being taller than my husband in my wedding pictures. thus, i guess i'm other- i'm doing it now but it's not what i imagine doing for the rest of my life.

aujah: I said "many" guys, not all guys. There will always be exceptions, just like there are for a lot of the women here not minding if their guy is shorter. And the last part of my comment was obviously tongue in cheek. I feel like I really shouldn't need to explain all this.

I'm nearly 5'11 and I dated a guy two inches shorter than me for nearly 3 years. All the other guys I have dated have been 6'0 and up. I wouldn't discount him based on height.

I like big strong tall guys, not skinny but not huge fat either. My hubby is over 6 feet tall. i am barely 5'2

i dated a couple guys who were my height/an inch or two shorter, never bothered me. however, i couldn't see myself with someone significantly shorter than me.

I'm 5'2 so it is hard for a man to get shorter than me. I don't mind if a man is the same height as me...usually that is the shortest men I meet or am willing to date.

I don't care if it sounds shallow. I wouldn't even consider dating anyone who was shorter than me. Thank God the hubby is 6'1" :)

rosey_y, then why dosent my man feel the need to have a shorter woman? or me a taller? do i have more confendence than you? does my man feel more manly than yours? i dont think so. I really dont think it has to do with the need to club a saber tooth tiger. if you feel ok with it and so does he...... thats all.

I guess I would date someone shorter, but I'm just attracted to tall guys. I'm 5' 4" and usually like guys that are at least 6'.

Thank god my boyfriend is taller than me. But in the past I've dated guys that have been maybe an inch shorter but nothing shorter than that. I'm 5'9" so it got difficult at times to find someone that was as tall or taller than I am when i was in high school. I wear heels almost every day too (im about 6'0" with heels) so that didnt make things any better haha. But As long as the guy makes up for being short in every other aspect then i think its okay..thank god i dont have to worry about that any longer haha

I'm 5'1" so there are not really any guy's that would be short to me! My husband is 6' so he has the job of reaching everything for me!
