Dear Poll: Who Wears the Pants?

A recent study in Iowa examined the dynamic of 72 married couples whose average age was about 33 and average length of marriage was seven years. After observing how the men and women interacted, women appeared to have more power, more domineering and dominant behaviors than their husbands, regardless of who brought up the topic of conversation.

These results were not all that shocking to me, especially since I know so many strong willed women. So while it was clear in this study that women displayed more power than their husbands during problem-solving discussions, what I want to know is, who wears the pants in your relationship?

He wears the pants and I wear the panties. There is way more happiness in a relationship when the women knows her place and happily accepts it.

We're equal on most thing but the scale probably tips a little more in my favor.

We've got kind of a seperate-but-equal thing going. He gets final say on business matters, I get final say on home-and-child matters. In practice, both of us consult the other about most things, though, and the person who cares more about something tends to get his or her way regardless of whether it's his or her "domain."

I used to wear the pants in past relationships, to the point where it got boring! My BF now and I are both very equal and I don't get to wear the pants all the time any more.

I was going to say that of course it's an even playing field, but when I really think about, I think I wear the pants. He always concedes to me when we disagree about something.

We both do in little ways, but he is pretty protective of me, so in general he has more say in our relationship

i kind of do, when it comes to stuff like shopping, weekend and dinner plans.. my bf even teases me by calling me "boss".but when it comes to things like money, our future in general and just about anything else that's important to us both, he always has the final say. after all, he's the one who's older and more independant. it's a bit annoying sometimes too- i'm always the baby in the relationship!

I'm definitely the pants-wearer in our marriage. However, if it comes to ANYTHING having to do with any computer or electronic, he's got the field on that one. When it comes to money, raising my son, cleaning, stuff like that...it's all me. :) I'm one of those perfectionist people, so usually I don't like things done unless they're done MY way, ya know?

I wear the pants most of time. However, I do cede control to him for some things, and I always value his opinion greatly. That being said, I have way more willpower and more of a talent for mutitasking, so it's natural that I wear the pants more.
