Dear Poll: Who Started A Family First?

When my high school friends and I would get together, I don't know why, but the topic often came up about who would marry who, and of course, who would have kids first. We all agreed that our one friend who had the steady boyfriend would be the first to be a mom, but boy were we wrong - she's not even seeing anyone now.

What about you? Who was was the first to get pregnant in your circle of friends?

I still can't believe that my highschool best friends got married and others who were only acq. now some of them have already had a twin a few years ago and some divorced more than once and some had a baby and are widowed!!all this in early twenties!!!lol

its so crazy! since middle school my friends and i have been talking about this stuff! and everyone always assumed i'd be last just because i was so commitment scared! i was like why be in a relationship when i can just have fun! now throughout the past 9 years coming down to it i'm the one is the serious relationship and will most likely be settling first! its so crazy but i love it!

Between childhood friends, college friends, and my husband's group of friends- we were the first ones to have kids. We weren't very young, but I still have friends who aren't even married and still going out all the time. Life changed in this way sooner for us, and it wasn't until others had kids that they realize what happens!

I was the first to get married and the first to have a kid. We've been married for 8 years, been together for 10, and we've been out of high school for 10 years. Our son is almost 5. It's funny because most people are surprised how long we've been together cuz I'm sure they think we've been together about as long as our kid is old - i.e., got married cuz we got knocked up! It's great to see the look on their faces. Anyway, I know one person from high school who is getting married next year, and two people who have been married for three years and just had kids this year and others who I hear about that they are married without kids. Like this one couple we know just had their kid this year. So when he's 20, they will be almost 50. That's a big difference. We'll have had 7 years to do whatever and they'll be going through jr. high and high school with him and we'll be done! It worked for us. When our kid is 20, we'll only be in our early 40s and have tons of time left to spend time together to do whatever we want, have money saved up, and right now we have the energy we need to be active with him. It's great.

Currently, a lot of my friends just had babies. They are not married (or got married b/c of the baby, or will be getting married b/c of the baby) I am married and people are bugging me about having kids. I'm not ready, I just graduated from college, looking for a job, etc..I think they are kind of miffed that I told them I wasn't into the being a mom thing right now. It's not in my plans...can't they respect that? I'm sorry they had an accidental pregnancy. But they got a wonderful gift out of it; beautiful children. Hmmm....I just totally vented, sorry if that went off topic :)

lol considering we were still in high school (i had savannah on labor day, the day before school started) i was the first. but we all seem to be having our kids VERY young (i'll be the first to hit 20 in october).

i had a baby out of wedlock when i was 21 (she turns 14 tomorrow! yay!). i was the second in my group of friends to have a child, and also one of the first ones to marry when i did decide to get married. my daughters are now 14 and 9, and my friends are all 35 with infants or struggling to conceive. i would LOVE to have another one, but going back to diapers and paying for daycare? no way. it's vacation time! and we can actually have date nights! ;)

Me and my girlfriends use to love this subject back when we were in high school. So far me and my best friend have been the first to get married and have kids. We were both due at the same time (two weeks apart). I had my daughter first (she's now 2) and she had her son a week later! We both have two kids now but back in the day (lol) we were pegged as dead last to ever settle down!!!

I'm in the middle. A few just started their families and have one or two babies under 5. Then there are some who are in not in serious relationships. I'm the married but no kids yet group

I was the second. My good friend got married and had a kid first, and I was about 2 years behind her. Everyone else is now starting to have kids. We're like the OGs! lol

A few of my college and current friends have kids, but the overwhelming majority don't. I'm pretty sure just about everyone from high school (I went to a very small school) is married and having the children though. Except for me! I don't plan on having kids. It's been surprising who the first ones to have kids were though. The first of my high school friends to get pregnant - also the first to get married - was the one who had never had a boyfriend until she met her husband-to-be in college. And the first college friend to have a baby was the one who always talked about not wanting children (and now she has two).

My high school friends & I used to talk about this too! However, no one from our close circle have had kids yet, let alone gotten married. We're still in "college grad" mode & "finish last year of college" mode... so I think we still got a couple years left!
