I have always been one for tough love. I like when people tell it to me straight and I am that friend who dishes it out. I think it's the best way to evaluate whatever situation you're in without rose colored glasses, but I have many friends who need everything a little more sugar coated. To each their own, so ladies, which approach do you prefer?

I'm in between...I want the truth...but I want the truth in a nice way. I don't want to feel that I have to hide things or defend my actions to my friends...they are my friends, not my parents!
1I think a mixture of both. I aree with nicole121482, but sometimes i need tough love, others i need ubersensitive love. usually a mix of the two is sufficient though.
2I am totally all about tough love. The hubby is the exact opposite, he's super sensitive! lol
3lay it out there baby. i HATE the sugar coating. it changes nothing and wastes time.
4I like communication, and I feel it is important in any realtionship. Weather that be a freindship, or with your lover, you NEED to talk and express your feelings.
5However, there is a time and a place for telling someone straight up what you're feeling and vice versa.
Although I am sensitive, I like upfront and honesty way better!
6kendalheart put it perfectly for me, too.
7I prefer honesty even if it's blunt, but it doesn't have to be cruel. It seems to be pretty rare these days though, most people won't tell you what's up. I know a lot of people who would rather talk about you than to you. Makes for a crappy friendship though.
8I prefer it when people are honest in a tactful and sensitive manner. You can be honest without being hurtful, and you can be sensitive without sugarcoating. Examples:
Too tough: "You're getting fat. Don't eat that cookie."
Not tough enough: "You're just big-boned and voluptuous. Have another cookie."
Just right: "How are you feeling? I've noticed you've been a little sluggish lately, and it looks like you may have put on a pound or two. Are you getting enough sleep? Is something bothering you? Let's go jogging sometime and talk about it. Would you like an orange?"
9I feel like I can take the tough love approach, but it's really hard for me to give it. I can't not sugar coat it.
10I like forthright honesty. No beating around the bush. And I dish it out that way as well, which some (most?) people I know don't like and they think I'm too harsh.
11hey rubialala! I have a friend who describes herself the same way as you. Hopefully thought you aren't as harsh as she is...if wasn't the kind of person not to hold grudges, she wouldn't be my friend anymore...
12Totally tough love! I cannot take it when my friends try to stall so they don't hurt my feelings. Well, I'm a bit sensitive, but not THAT much. I can handle it. Bring it on!
13Just give it to me straight.
14I don't need it sugarcoated but I don't want to feel attacked!
15I only surround myself with blunt people....I find that people who are too sweet and saccharine almost, I'm afraid of sharing my true feelings with them because it might offend them. my b/f and best friend are both very blunt, and honesty works perfectly for us. it's also usually funnier that way.
16Straight forward is best. But then every situation & person is different.
17It definetly depends on how sensitive the situation is. Sometimes is better for me to hear the cold hard truth. Sometimes I need some TLC before I hear the truth.
