Dear Poll: How Many Times Have You Been a Bridesmaid?

The newest comedy starring Katherine Heigl, 27 Dresses, comes out in theaters today. The story revolves around Heigl's character, who has been a bridesmaid 27 times and is about to embark on her 28th for a wedding between the man of her dreams and her sister — ouch.

Needless to say, it got me thinking about that old familiar saying: always a bridesmaid, never a bride. While it's flattering to be asked to be a bridesmaid, it can be both disappointing and annoying to constantly be on the sidelines. I've been a bridesmaid a couple of times, but how many times have you?

iv never been 1. :P i was supposed 2 be, but my aunt is a bitch and only made her daughter b the bridesmaid, so her daughter can get all the attention..sheesh. LAAAAAME!!!

Never :(. I was about 6 yrs old when my uncle got married and I remember being extrememly pissed that I wasn't asked to be a flower girl.

I have 2 bridesmaid gigs and at least 2 other weddings planned for 2008. I get tired just thinking about it, but they are all for people that I love. I'm sure the suffering of wearing an ugly dress will be outweighed by the fact that my friends are finding love.

when i get married, i'm gonna spend SSSSOOOO much of my dad's money to throw an extravaganza (he and i already discussed and he claims he will be dead by the time i want to marry someone. . .which isn't that d*mn funny to me . . .). anyways, if i'm gonna be tied to someone forever, then i want to do it with a BANG!!! you guys are invited too . . . but seriously, i have a huge family,so i'm bound to have a huge wedding just based on my family alone. but who knows, depending on my mood, i might grab a couple of friends and take a trip to elope with my future hubby.

Never been a bridesmaid, and hopefully never will. I hate weddings. I find the concept so ridiculous. Well, I'm getting married in May, but we're not gonna have a wedding. Only a marriage. Does that make sense? Anyway, we don't want anyone involved. Just the two of us.

Haha, Asia84, I'm the same way. Minus the part about being a bridesmaid more than 10 times. I've never been. Only one of my friends has gotten married so far. I was invited to the wedding, but thankfully not asked to be a bridesmaid (she has 4 sisters!). It seems like an awful lot of work to be a bridesmaid. I'd only do it if it's my best friend.

i have been a bridesmaid once and am slated to be my sister's MOH in 2009. :woohoo: the first bride was a total 'zilla, so i hope i never have to deal with that again, but otherwise i didn't mind being a bridesmaid!

for me to be in love? not so much . . .too much on the heart and beauty DISCLAIMER: love stress gives you wrinkles and grey hairs, possibly cause acne. love sometimes cause the common disease known as poppin' out small humans called children and obtaining stretch marks. More than 10 times.but this doesn't bum me out. I'm wayyy too into myself to be married to anyone right now; (meaning, I don't want to share my closet, bathroom, load of laundry, etc.. let alone my entire "til death do us part" life with you).i love being in weddings, and i even planned a few of them. i think it's wonderful when ppl are in love.
