Dear Poll: How Long Does it Take for you to Know if you Like Someone?

Playing the dating game takes time and energy, but most of all, it takes instincts. Since both parties are aiming to impress, especially on the first date, a woman's intuition plays a major role in figuring out guys' intentions. Determining a true connection can take mere minutes or months on end, depending upon openness and comfort level.

So, all you dating women out there, how long does it take for you to know if your guy is dating material?

after we gone out a couple of times. however within 5 mins, i can tell if i DUN LIKE someone. hahahahah

Amongst my friends, I am famous for my 3 date rule. I didn't come up with the rule, it was an observance other people made about me, and now it just has a title. Pretty much no man makes it past the 3rd date. If he does, he's good to go for quite some time. So basically, by the 3rd date, I know if he's a keeper. "Party like a rock star, pound like a porn star, play like an all star!"

lickety split, i agree. everyone's always on their best behavior when they begin dating. it's hard to tell what they'll be like after they start to reveal themselves with time. *but i answered first kiss :-)

i was always a hard sell in the dating department. it seemed like dating made it so that anyone could seem like an appropriate partner for a few hours. how hard is it to smile and be nice for that short of a time? seeing guys with their friends alwys gave me a sense of who they were, that was the deal breaker for me. only one time that failed me. i met his friends and they were all so great i felt like i was dating the wrong one :(

I want to claim that I know in the first 5 minutes but I've made so many judgment mistakes along the way that I don't know if it's possible ;-) I definitely know within the 5 minutes if I want to see that person ever again.. does that count?

Well, it's different for everyone, but I think you know on the first date if you want to see them again. The third date is the deal breaker for me. By then I know if I'm done or if I'm interested in seeing where things go. With my boyfriend, I knew from the instant I met him that I was really comfortable and at ease with him. And on the first official date, those feelings were even stronger. At the end of a month, I knew I was in deep.

When I met my husband I knew he was the one. We dated awhile, and then got engaged, and 6 months later got married. Now I'm happily married with 3 children :)

I have had instincts in the first 5 minutes that have been so far off! But I can definitely tell if I want to go out with someone again right away. It's determining whether their relationship worthy that takes much longer for me. I need to build up trust first before totally letting my guard down.
