Dear Poll: Has Your Taste in Men Changed With Age?

My mom always told me that the guys who fly under the radar are the ones you want to end up with. Of course, in high school and college, that seemed completely out of the question, but the older I get, the more I understand what she was trying to say. I'm sure we've all fallen for the jock or the most popular guy in school, but the most desired man isn't my number one priority any longer. Someone with good values, a good family, and an overall fun-loving personality blows a "cool guy" out of the water any day — I guess my mom was right after all! Has your taste in men changed with age and wisdom? Or have you always been attracted to the same type of guy?

I've never really had a type but a couple of the guys I had crushes on in high school were rocker types. My husband is a rapper so I still got that part (he writes me songs) but he's also the sweetest man imaginable.

I used to ONLY chase after older, tall guys :Pesp. ones that had a kind of cool mysterious vibe to them (almost sort of cocky)but my current boyfriend who I desire to spend the rest of my life with... is the same age as me, and also shorter.I realized I focused far too much on appearances when I was younger, but now I know what I want and need which is a gentleman! :)

I've always had a thing for the geeks. Jocks bored me to tears, and Mr. Popular i wanted to strangle on a regular basis. Most of my guy friends are all computer geeks, and the guy i married is a total science geek. Smart is SEXY!

I like variety, in men and women, but I prefer morals and outstanding personality traits over looks usually. I've never been attracted to people that think/know they are beautiful though. (Well maybe a few exceptions for attraction).. But I love imperfections for some reason... like my husband's crooked tooth drives me crazy. Or how he has freckles. I love oddities, they are so artistic and beautiful. (It's like almost everyone loves Brad Pitt or George Clooney,.. not me really. I like to find beauty where it's least expected.)

Not really, I still find the same qualities attrative now as I did then but I know personality wise I look for someone a little more different now then back in my early 20s.

OH MY LORD yes. All you have to do is compare my first husband with my second. First husband, Model type, built like a brick etc etc. Complete and utter A HOLE. Second husband, average looking, not in the BEST shape, but the absolute most WONDERFUL man in the world.

My superficial attractions have changed. I've had lots of crushes over the years and I seem to have gone through phases with who I crushed on. When I was really young, like 14, I had crushes on Asian guys, when I was a little older I had crushes on jocks, in college I had crushes on bad boys. But these are just images I found intriguing at the time, not serious connections. I was 15 when I first saw the person I am currently dating, and I STILL think he is the hottest person I've ever met, even though he doesn't meet any of my favored "types." My attraction to him is way deeper than image, and it hasn't changed over time, only grown deeper because I love his personality and character as well. I don't think true love and appreciation involves "tastes."

Yes, thank GOD - for awhile I wanted musicians, super creative types, anybody anti-establishment, but they usually were not nice people and treated me like crap. Now I know I want someone who's stable, intellectual (like me), caring, and wants a nice home life. I might have found him, too!

My taste in men has changed - in the fact that I look at substance more than just the outward appearance. I'm not into one 'type' of man, but I do like one who has some substance - spiritual, mental, financial, and physical (that comes last).

If you had told my eighteen-year-old self that, in my thirties, I'd be engaged to the man I am right now, I'd never have believed you! It's definitely all for the better, though, because I dated some real *ssholes.

Sorry, bit sidetracked. Looks wise? Definitely changed. Used to go for olive skin/dark hair and preferrably blue eyes. BUT my beau is fair skinned, dark hair and brown eyes and he's just perfect :D

I think its part of growing up isnt it? I used to date complete losers - in every sense. Never had a dime, didnt have a decent/stable job etc. Now my man treats me like a woman! Like its supposed to be!

Kinda. My boy right now loves to skateboard and ski but he's also in the Marines so he does have some qualities that I digged back in High School. :)

Yeah - as an adult, I found/find myself attracted to men who are way less douchebaggy in general.

i don't really have a type - all the guys i've ever been with have been very different from one another. but i agree with your mom, the nice guy is the guy you actually want to marry, and being with mr. popularity isn't necessarily a goal of mine now that i'm actually considering marriage (in my mid-twenties).my boyfriend is super hot, super nice, and everyone loves him...but i guess i got lucky that he's a small-town boy who has managed to escape the jerk vibe and is ready to settle down, like me! i think i have the best of both worlds!

But then there comes a point in a man's life where you need to start wearing your pants around your waist and not around your arse.My bf right now is more preppy looking which I dig. And owns probably tailored suits for special events and wears propertly fitted jeans...and he wears t-shirts too but cute band t-shirts that fit. :)
