Dear Poll: Do you Say Thank you After a Date?

I was raised to always say your pleases and thank yous. Those manners translate to dating as well. When it comes to dating, if the man treats you to dinner, I think it's important to follow up with a call, an e-mail, or even a text to simply say thanks for last night - especially if you're interested in going out again! I have some friends that agree with my rationale and others that feel that it's the guy who should be following up after a date regardless of who pays the bill. So ladies, what do you think? Do you typically say thank you to the guy after being taken out or do you think it's his job to contact you to initiate another date?

The question is not whether or not you say THANK YOU. OF COURSE you thank them....the question is WHEN!? after he paid the bill, Yes, I do....the next day? Not really again...depends on what kind of dinner it was, theatre, etc etc and he paid, okay, you might appreciate it more. But if you are NOT interested in the guy, you shouldnt he would otherwise think you are interested. If you are interested....still I think it is better to thank them then and there...and wait for the guy to get back to you. If he likes you he will, no?

Manners are fantastic! I'm a please and thank you girl myself, and though my bf and I have been together for over a year, I always thank him for the things he does!That said I think a follow up thank you the next day is an iffy subject - some guys may see it as trying too hard to get in touch, other guys may appreciate the note. I would err on the side of caution and stick with a thank you the night of and then a follow-up thank you AFTER he contacts you again!

Thank you at night is good but if you want to make an excuse to talk to them again, sending another thank you isn't a bad idea

I think calling the next day seams desperate for a second date. Saying thank you all through the night each time he does something, open the door, pull out the chair, order your drink, pay the bill, etc) and a final "thank you, I had a great time" at the end of the date is sufficient.
