Dear Poll: Do you Kiss on the First Date?

Whether you're on a one on one date or a group date, usually the night will end with a good night kiss. I personally think a kiss is extremely telling about a person's character and soul, but some women don't think kissing on the first date is a good idea. So what I want to know is, do you typically kiss on a first date?

I met a girl when I was in town one night, when I was dancing she joined a group of us when we were on the dance dance floor. For some strange reason I approached and asked a few questions like do you like here, do you study, without hessitating she asnwered my questions. Before I realised she was sat down on a chair just watching people dance - for some strange reason I sat next to her, put my hand on her thigh and asked how she was etc. Something I usually don't do is exchange numbers, but for some reason I did, only because she said she was seeing someone and it wasn't going that well. She seemed extremely shocked that I asked to exchange numbers and she pointed for me to give her a kiss on the cheek (near her mouth) from then I had to go because my friends were leaving. From then on, 12 weeks later weve been texting a lot and the odd phone call has happened. Around 2 days ago we spoke till 3 a.m on the phone and it was really random conversation, but I made her laugh and she told me a lot which got me to know her much more deeply. We're only now arranging to meet up for the first time since that night. When I left that night, I couldn't visualise her that much to the extent if I saw her in the street i'd not have a clue who she is. Basically something I would never do I text someone I can't remember, but I've got attached through her personality through the calls and the texts. When I meet her it will be feelings for someone I only know a personality for, which is scary because I hope she's worth the wait and her personality meets her looks. Basically 12 weeks to get to know someone without an official first meet after seeing her is a long time, but I'm hoping that when we meet we click more. I'm not the type of guy who will kiss on the first date, so i'm purely hoping to keep up my standards from what I've told her about myself and leave a kiss on the cheek, in the similar place from the first time, when we go on our first date. any suggestions of a good place/thing to do on a first date with my scenario? All posts will be much appreciated.

Like most others, it's down to chemistry. Unless there's absolutely zero chemistry, I'll almost always give a girl a kiss on the cheek, that's just a nice courteous thing to do I think. I've never done a full on make out on the first date, but if the chemistry is there, a nice kiss on the lips, preferably lasting more than a few seconds, is certainly welcome! I'd probably do a make out if there was massive chemistry and I was sure she was into it, so not against it, just never done it.

If the attraction was good then yes. If it was a sort of date you agreed to go on and not to expect something more out of it then I probably would just say good night afterwards.

honestly, if the chemistry is there, i'll kiss a dude within a few hours of meeting him....not deep, tongue in throat, kissing, but just simple quick stuff---to show affection.kinda flirty. if i'm on a date hanging out and everything went ok, then yeah, that's cool too....again, it's if I'M feeling it completely....i could care less if the dude is really into me...if I feel the sparks there, then it's on and poppin!....he ain't getting much else, though....lol....just besos!

I kiss on the first date, but only on the cheek. I can tell if there's chemistry without kissing on the mouth. I'm engaged now though, so no more first dates for me!

Haha, I just remembered...I was single, after a bad break up my 2nd semester freshman yaer of college, and I went out with random guys--only first dates, just so I could kiss, because I liked kissing soo much haha. ANd serilusy, it was only kissing, believe it or not. I never saw a single one of the guys more than once-i just used them and dropped them haha

Totally depends. If the timing is right and it just happens then I go for it, especially if I really like him. If not, then I wait. I don't think I have a "rule" about kissing on the first date, other stuff...yeah.

If I like the guy, then definately. I think it's a good way to tell if you want to see someone again. I went on date with a guy earlier in the year, and we didn't have a bad time out, but when he was driving me home, I was thinking "I hope he doesn't try to kiss me"- so I knew I wasn't interested. The guy I'm seeing now, when he was driving me home from the first date, I did want to kiss him- so I knew I wanted to keep seeing him.

It all depends. I'm not big on 'the rules' or playing hard to get, so if the chemistry is there and everything is right, then yes. But if it's not, then no. And if it's not there on the first date, it probably won't be there on the second date either! :D

If that first kiss is lacking in anyway, I don't go on a second date. a kiss isn't sex...there is nothing wrong with it. That being said, after that first kiss, I am dating the guy 5 years later, and we have the best relationship of anyone i know...*knock on wood* "This kiss, this kiss-unstoppable"
