I've always found that to be a disappointing fact — especially since so many women don't actually learn this until late in their sexual development. I decided to test this notion so I questioned a group of my girlfriends. Many did acknowledge that an orgasm without external stimulation is possible, though quite uncommon. In fact, the number of women who could reach climax without it was more than I expected — around half. So let me ask my loyal DearSugar readers, do you need clitoral stimulation to orgasm?

13I very rarely climax by clitoral stimulation alone...maybe 5 times in my whole life unless aided by a vibrator like kikidawn said. I don't climax just through sex either, I have to line up our hips right so I get a combination of vaginal and clitoral and that does the trick! Although, I did have a bf years ago that could do it just with his fingers inside. I guess I'm just weird...

21There are many different kinds of orgasm, and just because some women need clitoral stimulation doesn't mean all do. hell, some of us don't need any kind of contact, just contracting the vaginal muscles and engaging in a fantasy can bring an orgasm.
With my ex I could never gain an orgasm with out the clitoral stimulation, however with my current bf I can and do several times....I guess it's true that it doesn't matter the size as long as they know how to use it.

Sorry if its graphic but it helps if you concentrate, put all your energy into the pelvic muscle. Meditate on that area...it'll help, I bet!!

My two cents: I voted yes. But I come both ways. I have a sensitive (in a good way) g-spot. I have friends whom have a hard time having pleasure at all. I can't say for certain what the problem is, but if you masturbate, you will find that you can have orgasms. Just don't be afraid of your own body. It's not bad, it's not dirty.
29I've never really needed it, but my boyfriend had to work for nearly 6 months just to make me climax. I think after much practice, it becomes easy not to rely on clitoral stimulation, especially for me because my boyfriend is my first and I never masturbated before.
