Dear Poll: Do You Look in His Medicine Cabinet?

When you're at a new boyfriend's house for the first time, or at a dinner party at a friend of a friend's home, does your nosey side get the best of you? Snooping is a no no, but let's be honest, we've all done it! You can tell a lot about someone by what they keep in their medicine cabinet - some people are prepared for anything, others store the bare necessities, and some stock a mini pharmacy in their own home. So what I want to know is, when you're at someone's home, do you snoop through his or her medicine cabinet?

i look in medicine cabinets, but i don't touch anything. besides, no one keeps important things in there. if they want something to be hidden, i hope they can find a better spot. has anyone ever found anything interesting in there anyway? i always just find the regular stuff you'd think was in there. the oddest thing i've ever seen was toothpicks... who keeps toothpicks in their bathroom? but anyway, nothing scary or suspicious.

I admit I always wanted to before we were living together, but I never did. Now that we share a medicine cabinet, I can see I didn't miss anything. :)

I never snooped in his cabinet until the day we were moving him out of his place and into our own. We had fun together seeing everything he had. We laughed about how old everything was and what he had really bought it for.

Am I the only person who is appalled that based on the results right now over 70% of the girls who answered snoop on in her boyfriend's medicine cabinet (between the Yes - I snoop on everyone answer and the It Depends- Not a stranger, but yes on a new boyfriend answers)? Do most women really not respect their boyfriend's privacy?

Oooh, that pebble trick sounds fun. Maybe I'm just dull but it's never occurred to me to go through someone's medicine cabinet. It just seems weird to do that. With boyfriends if I happen to open to get toothpaste I don't even really look. But that's mostly because I wasn't aware until now that it's a window into someone's soul.

I would never, ever, ever do it when I was a guest in someone's house for a dinner party or something like that. It wouldn't even occur to me. But, if I have a new boyfriend I might have a peek if I'm in the vicinity anyway (i.e. brushing my teeth at his place and need to find some toothpaste).

It's totally an invasion of privacy but I do it and I expect others to do it. Mine is really boring anyway. Plus I hide the things I don't want people to look at.

Not without his permission. Never. I have done the pebble thing, and it's very interesting to see who respects privacy and who doesn't. Privacy is huge for me.

I won't do it, because I don't want it done to me! I think that is a total invasion of privacy to someone who is being very generous by opening their home to you. I've thought about taking Amy Sedaris' advice when having guests over and filling the cabinet with little pebbles. That way when it gets opened -- everyone knows!
