Dear Poll: Do Celebs Have a Right to Fight Back?

We hear about celebrities yelling at the paparazzi all the time. Just this week it was Seal giving them a piece of his mind, but Cameron Diaz has done it and Justin Timberlake has too. Even Hugh Grant has made his opinion known, loud and clear. Whenever I see the shutterbugs swarming celebrities, I always feel badly for them. Sure, paparazzi comes with the territory, but when is enough, enough? Famous faces can't even grab a bite to eat without flashes practically blinding them!

I may sound like a softy, but I feel like everyone has a right to privacy. What's your take on this touchy subject? It seems that most people have no sympathy for celebrities, so do you think they have a right to fight back at the media, call them names, even let matters get physical every once in a while to protect themselves?

while it definitely comes with the territory, the paps these days go way too far. there are certain places a celebrity goes that they must expect to be harrassed by the paps, but they do deserve some privacy and the paps should not be hiding out outside their homes or their kids schools ect..

you know, i always thought that it came as part and parcel of celebrity and that they should deal with it. however, i was watching the girls next door the other day (i'm sick!) and they were bieng STALKED through rome by this one photographer. seriously, they couldn't escape him. i was getting mad just watching it, and they were very relaxed about it....so i can't even imagine how bad it must be for celebs to break and flip.

some "celebrities" seek the paparazzi, the desperate ones who are only trying to stretch their 15 minutes, but i think for the most part, the paparazzi have completely stepped over the line, endangering not just themselves for the perfect shot, but also the celebrities, and innocent bystanders.

one. they know what the career entitles two. they make loads of money doing what they "love". three. those load of money can be used to keep on the DL and not be seen. look at how many celebrities that are on the A list and manage to still have a private life. its possible. for one. dont live in LA

There are ways to stay out of the public eye. There are celebs that you rarely see out and about like Beyonce. Most of the time you only see her at events. You don't always have to eat at the hot places, you're just asking for it.When it gets to in your face paps or ones who are shouting insults or trying to follow you to the bathroom then I might have a problem with it.

Photos taken from afar, sure okay. Downright in-their-space harassment which most paparazzi are guilty of, no. Everyone has a right to some level of privacy and the paparazzi really go to far to get their 'prize-winning' shots.

Stalkerazzi go way to far. I can understand getting a few shots or whatever. But I mean, the things I've seen on tv...it's just geeze. I saw on tv one time these paps were yelling at the chick John Stamos was married to...Rebecca....I can't remember. Well, anyway, they were yelling at her and calling her names and saying 'no wonder her husband left her' just because she wouldn't pay attention to them.Another time Alec Baldwin or someone's wife had a baby and the paps set a car with a camera up right in front of their house and he went out and covered up the lenses with shaving cream and he got in trouble for it! I couldn't believe it. When they go after the person's kid(s) it's just to much. Their child(ren) have nothing to do with that person's career so they should not be trying to take pictures. I understand human curiosity. I'm a Good Charlotte fan and desperately wanted to see pics of Harlow, but really, it's no one's business. And when it gets to the point where the parents have to set up a photoshoot with a magazine for the first pictures of their child to keep from getting stalked...it's just sick.One last thing, if I followed Nicole Richie and Joel Madden around with a camera, I'd be a stalker, paparazzi's can do it and nothing happens. That's messed up.

the paps are getting way too intrusive. I think as long as they keep a safe distance, on foot and in car, and they stay away from stars' personal property, then the pics can be expected. but they get way up in peoples' business.

It all depends on the situation. At events and while the celebs are out, it's fair game. But getting too close and invading their "bubble" is not tolerable. And when the paps get into the celebs' personal property to take photos, that is way over the line and celebs have every right to be upset.

Well, dealing with the media IS part of the career they've chosen, but the papparazzi keep getting more and more intrusive so I can't blame a celebrity who just can't take it sometimes. It seems like a horrible way to live, with a camera in your face even when you're just taking out the garbage.

No one who becomes a celebrity these days can get away with saying that "they had no idea the paps would be chasing them everywhere". That being said they should be able to have some privacy. If they're eating lunch at the Ivy, then they are there for the publicity, if they're picking up their kids from school not so much. It just seems like there are no rules and there should be limits.

I believe that when you choose to become a public figure, like becoming a celebrity because you decide to go into acting and end up starring in a bunch of films, you are choosing to create a public image for yourself.And because you are choosing to create a public image, people in the public are naturally going to be fascinated with you. And they are going to want to know everything about you.So no, I do not feel sorry for those people who choose to pursue a public life. And I do not think they should "whine" about not being able to go to Starbucks without getting photographed.However, I do think that the papparazzi today take things WAAY to far in some situations. I think when they follow celebrities and run them off the road... That's a problem. Or when they breach the private property of celebrities to get a photo of them in their home, that's a problem.But just snapping photos and video of celebrities as they try to live their lives in a public space??? Sorry, celebrities, you get no sympathy from me.
