Pro-choicers, pro-lifers, it's time we call a timeout. I don't know who originally gave birth to the theme-party idea (though I'll take a guess), but after CBS decided to air a pro-life Super Bowl ad pro-choicers are fighting back with abortion-themed Super Bowl parties. Let's pick up our sticks and go back to the picket lines.

But before you do, we must discuss Cupcakes For Life. This "organization" has dedicated Oct. 9 as Pro-Life Cupcake Day because National Cupcake Day is naturally Aug. 18. Considering that not every child gets to be born, it recommends you make cupcakes for all the unborn children.
Bring in a tray of cupcakes for any group of people and you will find that they will flock to get them. As soon as they take a bite they will probably ask, "Who's birthday is it?"
Then you answer. "It's no ones birthday. These cupcakes represent the 50 million children who weren't allowed to be born, who never had a birthday."
It even offers tips for elementary school kids!

1I'm.. speechless
2wow.
3no words.
While I am pro-life for myself, pro-choice for others, I don't agree with this type of guerrilla marketing of one's beliefs. I feel it's incredibly offensive and doesn't have the intended consequences.
4Why shouldn't people be reminded that these children won't get to celebrate their birthdays? We celebrate parents and grandparents and friends on their birthdays, and when they are deceased its a special remembrance of their lives. Granted these children's lives were cut very short, but that doesn't mean that they didn't exist or shouldn't be celebrated.
5ughhhhhhhhhhh
6It's things like this that make me want to drop any stance I might have had on the topic.
I will not be swayed by baked goods!
7anon: because it's disturbing? It'd be like celebrating the birthday of the baby my mom miscarried.
8Anon, it's one thing to take a moment and say a little prayer for those children and another to make fetal cookies and a Made From Babies cake. I'm pro-choice myself but this is downright wrong.
9that is absolutely disgusting and unbelievable
10shows the real lack of thought on both sides
it's not a competition people, use your brains and some discrepancy
I find this appalling.
I got one word for you. NO.
11While I myself would probably never have an abortion, I'm pro-choice, because I get that it's wrong to push your beliefs on others. There needs to be a choice. Just because it's one I wouldn't make doesn't mean it can't be there.
And seriously, if I ever saw cookies shaped like embryos, I wouldn't walk over to ask about them. And the cake is just revolting.
12That is so offensive. Practice your belief by not having an abortion, don't push your belief on others by warping the issue. Sometimes pro-lifers go too far (as in murder, burning clinics, etc.)
13That is just disgusting. I'm pro-choice and I think I speak for many pro-choicers when I say that we're not encouraging abortion, we just think people should have the choice. So anyone who's for abortion parties should call themselves pro-abortion, not pro-choice.
14Holy sh*t! My jaw just dropped. Look I personally am Pro-Life, but I except that accidents happen and believe a woman should have the choice to do what is best for her. This is one of sickest tactics I've seen. Dang.
15Someone should tell them that they wanted to say, "Whose birthday is it?" not "who's." No pro-life editors out there?
16Wow, it's really nice of them to do things for all the "unborn children," but I have a crazy idea - why not spend their time and resources on helping all the children who were actually born and who are currently living in poverty? I guess the great thing about pretending to care about unborn children is that it doesn't require them to actually DO anything to help others - they can just bake themselves some fetus cookies and pat themselves on the back for promoting their cause.
17I learned something new today ... appearently you can make cakes out of aborted fetuses! neat-o !
18I think some people are confused here... the pro-lifers are making cupcakes... the pro-choicers are making fetus cakes and cookies. That website is AWFUL: Miscarriage-Inducing Chili? There goes breakfast.
19It's nice when people actually read the links, right, Pistil? lol
20Anyway, it's one thing to have cupcakes for unborn children (yes, it's sad to think of all those babies, isn't it?), but another to make light of abortion. Hilarious theme? Hardly. Are these the same people who head up the Peta campaigns? The main course: You could make this in less time than it takes to have a first-trimester abortion. Excellent.
All pro-lifers I know are peaceful looking for an education of people to understand their point of view.. Any true pro-lifer wouldn’t bomb a clinic given that is not respectful of life. They believe in respect of life from conception and not only do they not believe in abortion they also do not believe in euthanasia. While like any other stance I believe beliefs are personal there are always going to be people that resort to radical means and this goes for both sides. I think this is an ethical personal discussion one must have with one's self and those we trust in. There have been pro-choice ads for awhile so I’m not blown away by a pro-life ad. What is appalling is how people are reacting so strongly against it...its as if all conservatives would demand pulling birth control ads...please this is America and part of being “pro-choice” is having the liberty to choose what to believe in and how to act.
21I am pro-choice (and pro-abortion if need be) but I'm not about to go celebrating abortions with fetus cookies. First off, it's disgusting and insensitive. Second, this buys into the whole all-abortions-murder-babies idea. Most abortions are first trimester and require the removal of an embryo. Not fetuses. Very few women in the US abort at the fetal stage. I'm so sick of hearing people say that abortion chops up little babies and I'm even sicker that the pro-choicers are further publicizing this notion.
22People have been having abortion parties for ages... what do you think the waiting room at planned parenthood is for? Ha ha, just kidding, I'm pro-life but I've gone there for cheap birth control when I didn't have insurance. I have to admit I got a kick out of these super bowl dishes... some people are so sick and radical. I'll be having a pro-life super-bowl party... as in I'll be watching it with my four-year-old.
23And I will DEFINITELY be baking cupcakes on Oct. 9th, not to give them to strangers, but because I really really really like cupcakes. There is no such thing as a bad excuse to bake!
24Disgusting. Those people should be ashamed of themselves.
25That is horrible. Those cookies are horrible. The whole thing is horrible. People are terrible.
26ugh, the end doesnt always justify the means. thats no way to get ur freakin point across.
27I find that what both sides of the argument are doing is wrong. Most people are raised to believe one thing or establish their moral code at an early age. These tactics (cupcakes with a message or abortion parties) are not going to convince anyone to be swayed to their side, if anything it just helps support their already formed view on the topic. Both sides should be ashamed of themselves.
28it's disgusting, totally agree with chloe use you're time and resources on the people who actually need the help.
29The cakes are fairly Cakewrecks worthy.
30Pro-life advocate here... this is disturbing. There will always be extreme wackos out there, no matter what the cause is or whose side you're on.
31If they want to have their crazy cupcake holiday, at least don't use the same date as my birthday for it.
I recommend April Fool's.
32MY BODY MY CHOICE NOBODYS BUSINESS
33People who create cakes replicating baby parts sticking out of the cake show how hardened people's hearts can get to think this is clever or the equivalent to baking a cup cake to show, in a startling but pointed way, that abortion destroys a human being, not a glob of tissue. How sad!
34Your body, your choice, but not with MY money.
35CBS decides against playing an AD for a gay men's dating site, and then decides for playing a Pro-Life commercial during the SuperBowl...this from the network that also has a gay man playing the hetero-est of all heterosexual men (it's a word)...I'm beginning to wonder if Jerry Falwell is alive and well and running CBS...
36No URKiddinMee, your money can go to pay the bonus of the disgraced Wall St executive that knocked up the chick and ran off...that's where your money can go...
37This has to be a joke... If I wasn't pro-choice, I think I'd be even more offended. It makes pro-lifers seem like absolute xssholes. No person who wants to seriously voice their anti-abortion beliefs could do something so insensitive and immature. It has to be dark humour.... although they sound pretty for real! I don't know what to think. =/
38Well, in comparing the two "ideas" the pro-life one makes people uncomfortabble about potentially killing innocent lives.
The pro-choice one just makes a mockery of life.
39Each person who claims to be Pro-Life and Anti-Choice should:
40- be forced to adopt and care for an unwanted baby born to a crack-addicted mother AND
- be deported to a place like Iran or Afghanistan where people, especially women, have no freedoms or choices. That is what they are advocating for the United States - why don't they go try it out for a while and see how great it is to be opressed in the name of religion!!
this campaign lacks taste and class, and it makes pro-lifers look like idiots.
41This renders me speechless...neither option is a topic for a PARTY, neither decision should ever be public knowledge, and one size does NOT fit all! Wow...is this country really still so closed-minded/one-sided? What an awful display...
42when you have a ultrasound at 10 weeks and can see your baby moving and swimming around, with little arms and little legs... i think we can agree that that baby is a litle more than just an embryo. most people don't even know they're pregnant for the first month. idk if i can ever really be pro choice again... maybe for very young girls or when risking the mothers lfe... but i think its kind of selfish, to be honest. you know what can happen when you're not careful. protect yourself before hand.
43@ Anonomous: yeah, we can agree that your baby is more than an embryo because technically, it is now a fetus (from 10 weeks). Most women abort embryos though, not fetuses. Look it up.
44I think I'm going to throw up.
45I love how i hear the "if you are pro life you should adopt a crack baby and go to countries where women are treated like cattle" you know because extremes really teach people to change their minds...
I am pro life, i wouldnt make cupcakes for dead babies or carry signs in front of a clinic...i just wouldnt get an abortion...
46CG - you're also not trying to deny the choice for all other women either. Most people are probably pro-life (as in nobody wants to have an abortion, but sometimes circumstances arise where an abortion is the best option). It's the pro-lifers who want to eliminate all women the ability to choose what is best for themselves that are pushing buttons.
Both sides are wrong and insensitive with regards to the party/cupcakes/etc.
47I don't think pro-choice = pro-abortion (as in everyone should just have abortions). It's just people want to preserve the right to have a choice/options.
48You know what people have some f#!$ing nerves, to just come out their face. I myself had a abortion and it's because of medical reasons, some people don't have choices. Mistakes does happen, and I'm pretty sure the ones who are out there protesting probably had an abortion or two before. You can not judge what people do. They don't even know the situation nor are they going to help anybody in their situations. Celebrate the kids that didn't make it to 5 yet, or a child who died, because a young teen didn't know what to do with it and thought it was better off in the trash. That's the kids they should be remembering, I'm so done with people now in days. Two words SO IGNORANT!!!
49Chloe> why not spend their time and resources on helping all the children who were actually born and who are currently living in poverty? I guess the great thing about pretending to care about unborn children is that it doesn't require them to actually DO anything to help others -> we agree 100% . easy to talk attack and act hysterical. Instead of the hysteria the pro lifers show why not help all the kids already born who are having a terrible life!! How much more pro-active, constructive and impressive and sends out a far more positive and meaningful respect for life. Respect for the lives already BORN! Instead of crying for the unborn ...show ur respect energy resources love for the newborns who are in need/in poverty! Action speaks louder than cakes and hysteria and ugly rantings, forcing ad compulsions.
