Circumcised or Not?

When we were babies, most guys got circumcised. Not all of them, but most of them. It all depended on the parents' religion or personal preference. Things are changing though, and now I feel like many new parents are choosing not to circumcise their sons.

That being said, it can't change the fact that circumcision was pretty popular 20 - 30 years ago. Most of the guys I know were circumcised, but I don't really prefer one to the other. I mean, it's not like these guys had any choice in the matter, so as long as it works, I'm happy.

What about you? When it comes to guys, do you prefer them circumcised or not circumcised?

Oh lordy. Hopefully, men are all wearing protection, making this point moot. But. . . realistically, it is safer for men (and by extension, safer for their sexual partners) to be circumsised. Women contract STDs much more readily than men due to anatomical/physical considerations: women take bodily fluids and skin cells into themselves, and it's not like they can just hose down after sex. Men are at an advantage, precisely because they internalize less in the way of pathogens. Having a foreskin, men experience some of the purely structural risk factor that women always experience. To boot, men infrequently are even symptomatically aware of their extant herpes/hpv/etc. infections, compared to women (hormonal fluctuations and damp, warm body cavities exposing what they do). So as a woman, with no squeamishness over circumcision from an aesthetic or pleasure-based point of view, I do prefer circumcised men. I am studying medicine, and it is my simple belief that there is a hygienic and anti-incubatory advantage to circumcised penises. Sometimes, you can be exposed to a disease via direct contact and you can avoid a level of risk just by washing it away. This is more likely--not even supposing any level of poor hygiene on the man's part--without a foreskin. Plus I once saw a case of genital warts that ripped the foreskin open. That put me off casual sex for a long time, and even sitting here with the memory, I don't think I'll be eating anymore of the potato chips I'm sitting next to.

The foreskin is "extra skin" and "harder to keep clean" the same way that a woman's labia are extra skin and harder to keep clean? Should we circumcise little girls to make them cleaner? Some cultures do. In our culture this is considered revolting, horrible and mutilation when done to girls yet we do it routinely to baby boys. How odd. Fact is, it's easier to keep a foreskin covered penis clean than it is to keep an intact vulva clean. In either case, might I recommend taking a bath or shower?

circumcision is mutilation designed to "show god how much we love him" as it is a sacrifice we make to him. ripping off part of the penile skin removes nerve endings in the sexual "pleasure zone", as well, the constant friction of the glans renders it less sensitive to sexual pleasure. any parent who has his/her son thus mutilated forfeits the right to say that he/she loves his/her son and ought to be open to lawsuits by tthe thus-mutilated son later in life. i am uncircumcised, i am also a naked model in fine arts classes and proudly show off my uncut cock

Just Google circumcision damage to see why so many men are angry that this senseless mutilation was done at the one time when it's hardest to get a predictable result. No national medical association on earth endorses routine circumcision. Foreskin feels REALLY good. HIS body, HIS decision.

people said majority of ppl in world is uncircumsized obviously when u add up chinese and indian they are half of the population of world and they dont do circumsized thier penis. Circumsize penis are safe and potentially less affect to diseas.

Well i am getting a circumcision next week and i am not happy and if i could keep it i would but when i am having sex it hurts so bad but id really like to keep it i think i will look deformed and i think if you do not need it you sould not get it because i have had a normal penis for twenty years and i like my penis but i am scared of not liking it after i have had it

You might not have expected a male to comment here but fortunately after my father died (when I was 10) my mother decided that I should be cicumcised. (I had been taught to pull my skin back in evry bath and also when I urinated, but frequently did not do so!)I was quite resistant but my mother prevailed and I got done. I was quite annoyed at first because while I healed up promptly the constant chafing of my bared glans bothered me considerably - when you've had a foreskin protecting the head of your penis for 11 years, getting used to bing bare was not easy! But there were advantages! I didn't have any skin to have to pull back; I was like all my friends and I could urinate with a clean tight stream. When I met the girl who is now my wife she told me early that she was glad that I was circumcised because it was something that she preferred. When our sons were born she had them done promptly within the 1st two weeks. Thus while I didn't like the idea as a boy, I'm so very glad my mother made sure I got done.

I was so very pleased to read other comments on the pros and cons of circumcision as the topic can generate such strong views and opinions. It was refreshing that most comments were making a personal opinion and not advocating that everyone else be forced to fall into line with what they believed whether in favour of circumcision or in favour of uncircumcised penises. I know everyone is into foreskins at the moment - the must have fashion accessory of the year... one day it is an iPod the next it is a foreskin! As children we don't choose the schools we go to or the religion we are brought up with or our clothes or if we are vaccinated etc I have heard circumcision paralleled with vaccination. Many parents see having their son circumcised as preventative medicine. Like vaccination, an insurance policy against negative consequences that are possible should they choose not to have their son circumcised. Of course, we do not extract all our teeth with the fear that we may get a cavity so is it logical to remove a boys foreskin from his penis with the fear that he may get an infection later in life under his foreskin? Many women get thrush and other infections yet we do not advocate removing our labia to facilitate ease in cleaning. Parents have to make choices - hopefully informed decisions and choices that will be empower and make the lives of the children better? Did your parents ever discuss with you having you circumcised or your brothers circumcised or if your cousins and uncles were circumcised? It is equally important to discuss if parents made the choice not to circumcise and then reasons for this choice. I have a feeling circumcision is a discussion topic not commonly brought up and is it seen as a private issue. Unfortunately we do not learn the reasons for decisions if we do not discuss them openly and honestly. The only people who could honestly offer an opinion on whether circumcision has makes any difference to the sexual pleasure of the man attached to the penis is a man who was circumcised as an adult. The man would need to have experienced sexual intercourse before he was circumcised and after - and over a period of time after the initial change has occurred. The man would also need to be a man who had a perfectly normal functioning foreskin that was fully retractable and without medical problems such as phimosis. The circumcision would need to be complication-free and a standard style. Men who are sexually aroused by circumcision or foreskin would be excluded. Maybe men who are circumcised due to converting to Islam or Judaism and have no strong opinion either way would be ideal candidates for this research? It is so difficult to get a fact and not an opinion - we all are educated throughout life and bring with us so many filters that we view the world through and that taint the unbiased facts. Maybe every man would have different opinions and experience different outcomes? Sensitive to one man may be hyper-sensitive to another? Women have every right to hold an opinion and should not apologise for their views. We all are turned on and sexually aroused by different things. Some of us like circumcised and some uncircumcised and some don't mind either way just as some of us like redheads or blondes or brunettes or raven hair and some like bald. Some of us are sexually attracted to women or men or both. The best way to correct misinformation is to discuss our opinions and have others offer differing views. It would be of interest and value to read your opinions on whether you are circumcision supporter or foreskin fan but opinions backed-up with some of your thoughts, beliefs, ideas and reasons for thinking what you think. There are no right or wrong answers. We are who were are, we behave how we behave and we feel what we feel.

All my other ex boyfriends were circumcised so that's what I was used to, but my current bf is uncircumcised and I was a little weirded out at first. Now it just seems so normal and I look at circumcised penises like they have been damaged. I think oral sex is so much more fun, plus I love pulling on his foreskin.

I have been with only one uncircumsised man and he was my first. My husband is circumsised and so is my son. I think it is all about the cleanliness of it. It does tend to be harder to keep clean. Each their own though. Doesn't matter.

All of my past boyfriends (Americans) were circs, and we are conditioned from birth in that country to expect and respond to that. My current boyfriend is uncirc, and apparently most guys on this side of Europe are (as he calls it) "unf*ckedwith". To clear up some myths, uncut guys know how to take care of themselves. If they don't, they are just as gross as a slobbish cut guy. They look funny when soft, and if the guy is large, they can do a really creepy trick of pulling the foreskin up almost 3 inches, but its quite funny. I have to admit though, uncut is a huge turnon, and I have considered more than once if its just the guy or really the penis, and there is definately something about sex with uncut guys that is better, but oral sex is NOT.
