When summer is over, and the leaves begin to change to deep reds and vibrant shades of orange, I'm reminded of my happiest memories as a kid. Fall was my absolute favorite time of year. It meant the beginning of school and seeing my classmates that I hadn't seen all summer. Even though it never got all that cold in San Francisco, it also meant I could wear my new school sweaters and fuzzy mittens.

Since I didn't grow up with true seasons, tell me all about your childhood fall memories in the comments below.

watching "it's the great pumpkin charlie brown!" i marked that as the start of the holiday season. now i watch it with my girls and feel the same way. yipee, holidays! (ps, we bought our christmas tree today, lol. it's 12 feet high and already has lights on it
1I grew up on So Cal, so not too much fall weather there, but I remember there was always a shift in the air, some element of crispness that would make me feel wonderful. I still love that first crisp air to this day.
2i grew up in northern va, and the "true" seasons were the best part. my absolute fav fall memory by far are the changing of the leaves- and of course jumping into leaf piles. theres nothing like a beautiful fall afternoon with all the pretty reds yellows and oranges
*sigh
3I grew up in Montana, so we had true seasons... especially winter! I remember countless days when we were snowed in and couldn't go to school. We also couldn't leave our house, cause the roads were blocked with too much snow. Or the cars were covered in snow, and you couldn't find it.
4On those days, my siblings and I would make huge snowmen, go sledding, and enjoy our day off from school! And then my mom would have hot chocolate and toast ready for us when we came in.
We just had our first snow (6 inches) this past weekend, and although I didn't go running outside to make a snowman, I did have hot chocolate and toast!!
Going to my high school's football games as a kid and pretending I was a cheerleader, fall festivals where I bought caramel apples and popcorn balls, and going to my Grandparents' on Thanksgiving, watching the Macy's parade and drawing names for Christmas.
I'm with licketysplit...I'm already looking at Christmas decorations!!
5I grew up in Connecticut, so we have all the seasons in full force. All I remember is me and the fam raking mountains of leaves in my yard- which seemed neverending. It was always tons of work!
6cleaning up the leaves.. and then making a BIG HUGE PILE and jumping right in the center!! that was my FAV!!
7I grew up in Upstate New York, and Fall was always and still is my favorite season! Jumping in piles of leaves was always fun but every now and then you'd end up finding a worm or a slug in there so that always made me weary...
We had a timeshare in Vermont that we used to go see the fall foliage (also to ski in the winter)...Vermont is beautiful in autumn!
I went to school in Boston and we went to Salem in October which was a blast!
Lastly, nothing beat trick-or-treating, haunted hayrides and houses in October
8i live in New England and we get all the "true" seasons. Fall is a wonderful time when you can go apple picking and jumping into a pile of leaves. The air is so crisp in the morning too. Good times Good times.
9I grew up in NY...
I miss the times when it would snow & they would close school and then my friends and I would bundle up warmly and go play in the snow...make snow angels...snow men..have snowballs fights..
we don't have that at all in los angeles...
10We get the whole family together and rake my grandparents huge yeard every year in late October, early November and have a huge Thanksgiving style feast afterwards.
One year, my grandma took a picture of my sisters and I running and jumping to the pile of leaves and sent it in to some photo contest and one best group photo. We were in the local paper and everything.
But my current memories are wearing great clothes such as jackets and boots and eating comfort foods and snuggling, watching a movie.
11*yard..... and *won.........it's a long day. Typing= not so good.
12I loved getting new clothes and also walking thru the trails my dad cut in our woods.
13half of my childhood (until i was about 9) was in the east, where it was incredible during the fall (out of the cities). the other half was in the midwest, where, in my humble opinion, it was just as if not more beautiful. i love the first days that you can drink hot chocolate and buy a new coat and play in the leaves. i had a dog that would try and chase the leaves as they fell from the trees, and we used to sit on the porch and laugh at it. i remember going apple picking with my dad and then making the pies with my mom, going to the pumpkin patch, and just generally enjoying the season.
14Making popcorn balls with my mom.
