Senator Barack Obama secured a huge endorsement from Democratic icon Senator Ted Kennedy. Teddy just delivered a stirring speech, hitting Hillary Clinton on all of her talking points regarding experience. The electricity in the room was palpable even for those watching from the other side of the television camera.
Senator Kennedy, often alluding to his brother President John F. Kennedy, said he has always planned to
"Support the candidate who inspires me, who inspires all of us, who can lift our vision and summon our hopes and renew our belief that our country's best days are still to come."
Caroline Kennedy, the sole survivor of President Kennedy, and Representative Patrick Kennedy joined in the Obama lovefest. The Kennedy endorsements will aid Obama on a national and local level. As the battle for delegates moves to congressional districts, the Kennedy stamp of approval may help local leaders feel confident endorsing Obama.

yay! Obama has really been growing on me and I like him more and more every time he speaks (which is unlikely for most politicians..ha)

2No it doesn't. First off, I am not a big fan of Ted Kennedy. Secondly, I base my voting on the platforms of the candidates themselves. I understand the purpose of endorsements, they just don't sway my opinion.
3I liked Obama before the Kennedys endorsed him. I believe he can beat Hillary on his own. He doesn't need to be in the back pocket of the Kennedys. The only thing I do like about them supporting Obama is that I'm sure it has ticked the Clintons off. Other than that, Ted Kennedy is a waste of space.
4I don't base my opinions on who endorses someone. I think it's great that he feels strongly enough to get up there and praise Obama, but it wouldn't sway me. I plan on voting obama anyway
5*sigh* not to be the word police, but the correct word is MANTLE, not MANTEL.
A MANTEL is the big piece of wood that site overtop of your fireplace. A MANTLE, on the other hand, is a fancy cloak that a king wears. Passing the mantle on to your successor symbolizes the transfer of powers. So unless the Kennedy's are giving Obama thier house too, I think you want the second spelling. ;0

Obama is such a great candidate for so many reasons!
7I am an Obama supporter anyway, but I think that the endorsements may make a difference for others who are undecided. The Kennedys have been called a "political dynasty" and the fact that they chose to endorse Obama over Clinton says something about Obama. It goes to prove how great a candidate he is for President.

11Huge slap for Hilary but what the hell are the Kennedy's thinking?! This guy has no experience! He's no JFK that's for sure.
12He does have experience! He has been an elected official for longer than Hilary, for goodness sakes. He also has traveled the world working on nuclear proliferation, and was president of the Harvard Law Review (6 Supreme Court Justices have been members of the Review).
If you actually read his policy ideas, you can see that he is incredibly wise when it comes to the issues. Being a good decision maker isn't something that can be taught. For all of Rumsfeld and Cheney's experience, they sure didn't produce results.

15I think Caroline Kennedy is a very inteligent and gracious woman, one that stays out of limelight; so I know this endorsement meant a lot to herself. Other than that I think it doesn't matter too much either way to people, both Obama and Clinton has a zillion endorsements behind them by now. But I'm fired up and ready to go!!
I think many of you are right that JFK would get the exsact same heat as Obama is getting now from the naysayers. As Obama said some time ago; we got to stop building ourselves up by tearing others down.

"That something is a creative imagination which coupled with brilliance equals wisdom. It is too bad if we associate it only with gray hair and old age. Or if we call searing vision naivete. Or if we believe cunning is insight. Or if we settle for finessing cures tailored for each ravaged tree in the forest while ignoring the poisonous landscape that feeds and surrounds it.
"Wisdom is a gift; you can't train for it, inherit it, learn it in a class, or earn it in the workplace — that access can foster the acquisition of knowledge, but not wisdom," Morrison wrote.
19I was an Obama fan already but I think this does mean something. You must read the Op-Ed Caroline wrte in the NYT on Jan 27, 2008 in support of Obama. It is the most eloquent thing I have read in a long time. I think that if Obama can be half the president Caroline hopes him to be, we'll be ok.

20I was never a big fan of Ted Kennedy but I do respect the man. I was part of a group that meet with him several years ago before the minimum wage vote and I remember one thing from that meeting, towards the end he said..."If we don't work for the people then who the hell are we working for?" That sentiment alone deserves a some respect.
21Do these Kennedy's endorsements matter to me? No.
Now if JFK & RFK and Jackie all rose from the dead and endorsed Obama that would be a story!
Still would not have an effect be it would be more interesting.
22While I admire the Kennedy's for speaking out and I enjoy the elegant way they express themselves, I would hope not too many people would choose who to vote for because the Kennedy's (or anyone) like them. Inform yourself!

We'd have a dictatorship and we would have to worry about voting until JFK passed away.
It just made me giggle... thank you. I understand your point though and they media did try to go after JFK for his extra-martial activities. However, he had a very powerful father and powerful friends they squashed most of it but the media knew what was what and reported as much as they could. I asked my Aunts who were "Kennedy Girls" way back then.
