While daughters of conservative politicians speak out about their left leanings, first lady of France Carla Bruni-Sarkozy says she swings right now. That would be unremarkable if her conservative president husband, Nicolas Sarkozy, wasn't gearing up for his 2012 reelection campaign and she was not Carla Bruni.
The model/singer/actress is known for her salacious, or the more euphemistic "bohemian," past, which includes at least one nude photo scandal. But, hey, conservatives get naked, too, right?
Either way, the first lady is seen as a liability to the president's reelection, but I do think she makes a valid point by saying liberals and conservatives are not the same in every country. She said her previous politics were due to the "community of artists" she belonged to in Italy, her native country. "We were left-wing but at that time I voted in Italy. I have never voted for the Left in France and I can tell you, I'm not about to start now."
Do you believe her conservative rebirth or are politics just politics — in every country?
