That is funny Mich! :)I actually do agree with a lot that Ron Paul has to say. I don't agree with him on all of it, but there are certainly a lot of things I do agree with him whole heartedly on.

Ack- my grandma told me Colin Powell only said those things about "Rush Limbo" because Colin Powell, apparently, is "rayshist." I honestly don't believe that Rush represents the Republicans right now, but his attitude is catching on with more people, like my family. I mean, my grandparents used to love Colin Powell, but my grandpa didn't even vote in this election because he hates the government and pretty much hates the country now too, and I really genuinely think he gets this from listening to Rush. It's ironic, because people like O'Reilly and Rush Limbaugh claim to be more patriotic than us "elitist libruls," when in reality they spew more negativity and venom than anyone! All they care about is getting their viewership up and making money- they don't really care about the Republican party. It just makes me mad, because I grew up admiring my family and their beliefs, but now they seem to be buying all this fearful, hateful crap.

haha Mich, I have to admit though, I tend to swing both ways (Palin more than anyone brought out the blue in me) especially on the state level, so it might not be that impressive that i have nice things to say...Jill agreeing is impressive though.I wonder if the GOP will reach out to him in the next election or will they really pursue this Palin thing? I think he has a lot of voters (young voter especially)they are not tapping into. He's the change Repubs need!

Mandy, I really agree with what you said about Rush representing the Republican party and comparing it to Olbermann representing the Dems. Good point! I also agree with this point by zeze: " I would love to see more Ron Pauls and less Palins in the GOP, even if I don't agree with him on everything, I think his are politics are not liberal obviously, but politics that are respectable and do appeal to better instincts" More fiscal and governmental conservatism...with out as much of the social agenda would be appealing to me.

Sec. Powell is probably one of the most reasonable people I've heard express (themselves) and I believe he's right in saying that the type of atmosphere that is cultivated by the likes of Rush Limbaugh is not an endearing quality of the GOP and in fact is counter productive to the party as a whole. The extremists like Rush may be just as content as can be with the rhetoric because it is comforting to their ideology, but their shooting themselves in the foot by being strict partisan extremists. No party or faction of (a) party is going to get most of what they want if they had that we would be living in a Dictatorship not a Republic (democracy). My advise to them and to all for that matter is to be more bipartisan and constantly self reflective about their social/political & religious views and how they effect their lives and the lives around them. As for Blagojevich, if soon to be President Obama even entertains the notion of a pardon I will be fit to be tied.

I've always liked Powell and always hated the "conservatism" of people like Rush - so I'm all for him on this one. I would love to see more Ron Pauls and less Palins in the GOP, even if I don't agree with him on everything, I think his are politics are not liberal obviously, but politics that are respectable and do appeal to better instincts.

I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion. I gladly take his opinion for what it's worth. I do find it interesting that Libs are warming up to him again, now that he is supporting a stance that is more to their side of the spectrum.

I guess the Republican party is currently thrashing it out as to what a true "GOP-er" is.I do think that in the past, conservatives generally agreed on fundamental social or economic platforms... stances that Obama generally campaigned against.
