My problem with the Town Hall article is that the author thinks that homosexuality is wrong AFTER someone (the Bible) told him so. We may never know, but if the author had been told that homosexuality was OK and then grew up to think that it was, well, then we humans have very malleable minds.In my opinion, homosexuals have been around for as long as heterosexuals have in every society, something I hardly classify as unnatural.

As an Obama supporter, let me just say that I think negative campaiging and meanie ads are silly from both sides. But I do think that in BO's case it is a catch 22. If he didn't respond to the Mac ads, wouldn't he be seen as weak?

Well, it is one of my favorite things to do! I have a snarkiness (snarkyness?) scale on my desk here at work and I chart comments on it daily. But I don't know if others enjoy it quite as much.

Really? I thought one of our favorite things to do was to analyze how snarky and rude the comments are from people who disagree with us politically? (Kidding, of course, in a just to be funny and not to be mean way.)

Michael Phelps is very serious to me!And I got confused for a second and thought something someone else said on another post was on this one.Anyway, there is also a huge difference in how you (generalized you, not you specifically) get off topic. Explaining back and forth what is meant by comments is really something only two people need to engage in. Generalized topics, like cupcakes, can be discussed by all. I'm sure no one else really cares what my tone was in a comment that was directed towards you, but I know others enjoy reading random comments about food, etc.

I guess I can see that. I wouldn't start rambling about wanting a coffee or something in the middle of a heated discussion about Darfur. But as you pointed out, looks like it's just you and me here right at this moment, and this post included an article from Radar and one about Michael Phelps' endorsements, so I feel like we're on the lighter side. Just my opinion though. Like I said, I don't really get why it's okay to be off topic sometimes and not other times.

For me, some threads are much more serious than others. I think it's OK to have off topic threads on sillier posts, but not on more serious ones. I also think the tone of the comments makes a huge difference. It matters to me whether there are others who enter the conversation on topic, as well.

I'm sure someone else will come along. (smiley, friendly, don't mean to imply I am more than fine if you leave, just saying it's fine either way) It's funny how some people think 50 comments about cupcakes are okay, but other times going off-topic os a no-no. The on-topic thing is something I'm still figuring out, I guess.

I don't understand how. I also don't understand why so many users on here think they can use sarcasm and/or outright use unsarcastic methods to accuse others of things, but get all offended when others use it. Sigh. I guess I will never understand some people. If you want to continue this, please pm me. I see that some people are rightfully still focused on the topic at hand.

But McCain's ad say Obama specifically wants to tax "your" electricity bill. I'm happy to change my wording: That is an outright lie.

It wasn't an outright lie. Obama wants to tax certain companies more, thus taxing energy. It manipulates the facts, which is different from lying. Something can't be "pretty much an outright lie." Either it's an outright lie or it's not.And like I said, I don't really think the celebrity thing is important, but the ad does connect it in a pretty obvious way. "He's a celebrity, but that's not reason enough to vote for him. Here's why you shouldn't vote for him."Anyway, I have work to do and the two of us going back and forth is not really going to change either of our opinions. Have a great day!

It pretty much was an outright lie. And I just don't understand why he would do that anyways. Obama does want to increase taxes, so why not talk about it in a truthful way? And even if you do think the celebrity thing is somehow valid (which I don't), it still seems to be different than the issue of being out of touch with the economy. But that's just my opinion.

And the connection comes from saying that Obama may be a celebrity, but that that alone is not reason enough to vote for him. I mean, the ad isn't so great and I'm not really defending it, but it does irk me when people say McCain is criticizing Obama just for being a celebrity, which is not the case.

It wasn't an outright lie, it was using the facts to suit what he wanted to say, which both candidates have done countless times. That doesn't make it right, of course, but it wasn't a lie.
