I'm not terribly concerned whether Laura Bush takes criticism of George personally. He's a politician; she's a politician's wife. Deal with it.
1I like her and she's harmless enough, but Laura Bush seems like the kind of person who would take EVERYTHING personally.
2Yup. Exactly.

4Xactly Jude - I wonder if she noticed that the Republicans were tossing some serious criticism Obama's way.
5I saw this last nite, I thought it was cute she was standing up for her man.
6The tag line for the Huff Post story is mis-leading. I guess so is the article itself. Obama wanted an expedited hearing for him. The senators want to wait the normal 1 week guideline, so they can fully investigate the tax matter. It's not a big deal. And I would think it would be irresponsible not to fully investigate new information.
7It's not "cute" how "her man" has represented this country.
8I think if I were his wife I might have been tempted to hit him on the head with one of my beautiful cast-iron pans; come to think of it maybe that explains.....
9Did she think that no one would criticize her husband, that his Presidency would be all puppies and kittens and rainbows? Even the best Presidents have tons of criticism thrown at them and people who vehemently hate them!
10I still thought it was cute no matter how terrible of a job Bush has done.
11
you're a good person Frank.
12Really u think so, I don't get that a lot. I appreciate it.
13If she's angry about what Obama said, then my guess is she'd like to personally rip my head off.
14Frank, it was kind of cute. It seems like in the video she's half joking anyways.
15True, she's a lady and ladies don't rip people's heads off.
16Voodoo dolls and flaming bags of poo on your doorstep are more like it.
Laura has probably been upset a lot in the past 8 years.
17Maybe, but I'm thinking Laura and Prince Valium are well-acquainted.
18"Maybe, but I'm thinking Laura and Prince Valium are well-acquainted."
Well she is married to Bush. I wouldn't really blame her.
19I wonder what happened to Prince Valium after Princess Vespa left him at the alter?
I have nothing negative to say about Laura, although I am surprised that after the last 8 years that her skin is so thin.
20
stephley you are so precious! You crack me up!!!
21The flu this year is wicked.
22-Voice of Experience
Do celebs ever get the flu, with really bad timing? What if a member of the Obama family got the flu on the day of the inauguration? Does that ever happen?

24Laura Bush makes my skin crawl. They are two of the most arrogant and smug people I have ever seen in my life. Some humility would be nice here.
25Librarian - you could say the same thing about the previous pres and 1st lady, and definitely about the next 1st lady.
26I really don't get that. Why do people think that about Michelle? What has she said or done to give the impression that she is smug and not humble?
27Kas- librarian was speaking of Laura Bush, not Michelle. So why do you care that Un Dave said he thought Michelle was Smug but not care what Librarian said. And what about Clintons? Didn't care about that, only Michelle
28
29hypocrites.
30You honestly could say that about either side CG.
31"This is the first time I can say that I'm proud to be an American."
32Hmmmm
Hain, I only asked why he thought that about Michelle. I didn't say he wasn't allowed to, but it seems like a popular opinion and I just want to understand it. I have always maintained that I like Laura. You will see that I said that earlier on this thread. I don't see any reason to think she is smug, either. I think many of your conservative friends will testify that I always said nice things about Cindy during the election.
Truth be told, I only read some of the comments. I mostly skim and read the ones posted by people I know. If they seem to be a reaction to something some one else has said, then I read them all. I honestly just didn't pay that much attention to sexy's comment. Did some one say something about the Clinton's being smug? Didn't see that either, but I don't think HRC is smug.
33Yeah, someone suggested the Clintons are smug.
