If I ever commit a crime, I hope I somehow get Madoff's judge - he seems to have a very high tolerance for bad behavior.
1Re: Israel/war crimes - Yes war is brutal and yes civilians are killed but for centuries, military leaders have at least tried to keep on this side of barbarism. If you think the kind of carnage that has gone on in say Sudan, Congo or Rwanda is acceptable, God help us all.
And I like Episcopal Bishop Gene Robinson, and I'm glad Obama's including him.
Me too Steph...
2He probably sent the judge a few of his things too

IMO, if you don't want your people to be killed, then don't fire rockets or other armaments from within their population. I think that Hamas should be held responsible for the deaths of their civilians because they have recklessly endangered them.
3This Madoff thing doesn't surprise me at all.
Had he seen a day of jail I'd have been stunned.
The world is full of people who, by virtue of little more than their celebrity, wealth or cunning, will never see justice truly done.
The older I get, the less I buy into the laws I was raised to respect.
4Unbelievable that Madoff skips the jail step. In any case, isn't he quite the flight risk?
5I don't know why, but I love the fact that they are keeping the chef. If somebody does a fine job, why should she have to leave when the boss changes?
