Boy bands like *NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, and 98 Degrees have certainly made their mark on the MTV Video Music Awards. But while these groups paved the way for this generation's hit-makers — like One Direction and The Wanted, who are both nominated this year — they've long said bye, bye, bye to the award show.
