Sex sells, but it could also get you censored. Sexual content in books is a popular justification book providers give for banning them. Looking at the 10 most challenged titles of last year, popular books like The Hunger Games and Twilight series make the cut for being "sexually explicit," although fans of Twilight know you have to wait a few books to get to the action. Well, "religious viewpoint" is also a reason given for banning Mormon-author Stephanie Meyer's vampire series — I guess some circles find Twilight too explicit, while others find it too conservative.

Sex isn't the only thing that will get you banned. Violence, racism, sexism, drugs, and offensive language will also make a book unwelcome at some schools, bookstores, or libraries. The people behind Banned Books Week put together a list of the most challenged books of 2010, along with the reasons they were challenged. Let's take a look at them now.

Actually, there's an INDICATED sex scene in the last twilight book. The only thing they actively do is kiss. The fact that the room is torn apart is mentioned after the fact, the reader isn't reading while it's happening. Sort of how in a movie when both actors lie down out of frame, fade out, fade in to a room that's torn apart. Two very different things. And there is absolutely nothing graphic said about vampire sex, just that they demolish houses, lose themselves in each other, and that's it's a powerful experience. No body parts or positions are mentioned. It's actually far less graphic than most shows on afternoon television. This isn't Anne Rice we're talking about here people, it's Stephanie Meyer. The whole series is about resisting sexual desire until you're married. Probably the most positive sexual message sent to teenagers these days.

There is a sex scene in Twilight, in the last book when they are on their honeymoon. Edward literally rips apart the room. And there's another part where they talk about vampire sex and how crazy it is.
