We've been waiting for this for what seems like a lifetime! Barbara Millicent Roberts and her boyfriend, Ken Carson, have had a rocky relationship since they began dating in 1961. But after a breakup in 2004 (and Barbie's brief fling with Aussie surfer Blaine), they are back together and finally tying the knot!

French photographer Béatrice de Guigné had the fun and hilarious idea to shoot Barbie and Ken's wedding in the same way she'd shoot a wedding between two people. So the same setups we've seen on our favorite wedding blogs are re-created here in plastic! Béatrice explains the scene to Rock n Roll Bride as this:

"Barbie & Ken were married at Faraway Castle, in Plasticity. The bride bought her dress from The Fairy Godmother shop and her shoes from the Cinderella Store. The groom wore a suit from The Prince Charming Emporium. The couple met more than 50 years ago (yes I know they look young). Barbie was tired of waiting so she asked Ken to get married."

Ninou, I have a feeling your comment was directed at me, so let me clarify. I think the pictures have a high artistic value, and I support the artist's right to portray Barbie and Ken as husband and wife! But, if you google "are Barbie and Ken married" you'll see that Mattel actually takes a keen interest in Barbie and Ken's love life. The met on the set of a commercial in 1961, briefly broke up in 2004 but got back together in 2006, but (despite the numerous wedding Barbies) they have never officially gotten married. So more than anything, I'm try to play devil's advocate for Mattel, since they actually care about Barbie and Ken's love life, and because I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE their products.

I can't believe the groomsmen wore jeans to the wedding....if I was Barbie, I'd go bridezillla on their plastic asses.

Quite fun! (brilliant that artists do not need to wait for commercial enterprises to commission them before they can imagine and create their art).

Very cute- BUT- Mattel didn't commission this. Some lady just set it up and took pictures of it. So it's somewhat misleading to say they're actually married. It's like photoshopping two celebrities into a wedding pic and saying they're married. Doesn't count!
