"This year's Snowflake Ball was the first year we've been able to celebrate the daily death rate of children dropping below 25,000."

— Barbara Bush told Vanity Fair Daily what she was thankful for this year at UNICEF's annual Snowflake Ball. We know she meant well, but "celebrate" and children's death rate don't really belong in the same sentence. Unless, of course, you're at the Snowflake Ball!

Shrug. She meant no harm. A lot of things a lot of people say could be worded better; at least she's trying to help and is happy kids are being helped. The fact that this is a post here is quite comical in and of itself.

I think what she is celebrating is great - the daily child death rate dropping below 25,000. She just could have worded it better although she got the gist across. Maybe the quote left out details of an explanation.Perhaps she'll carry on the legacy of bushisms....(and yes I do like her so I mean this in a humourous way.)

I don't know, I don't see it as that bad. It is a really serious thing to be down, and celebrating, so sugar coating it seems silly and strange in my opinion.
